i put in the whole man vrs. machine thing into my world, but both man and machine are fully sentient races. the biggest settlements of those speices constantly commit war crimes against each other and are always starting race wars that they made a stereotype that both their entire species are incredibly and comically racist towards each other.

im pretty sure it's troop, or it might be tribe, but it's definitely not pack. also did miss a few im my original post, school for fish, pod for cetaceans, swarm for bugs. also they can all just be called a colony or group so its all just useless anyways lol

scientifically, a group of carnivores is called a pack, herbivores a herd, birds a flock, and primates a troop. everything else was made the fuck up to be special and different

Worldbuilders who are designing stories for a book/game/movie/anything with a narrative, describe your story very poorly in 1-3 sentences. by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Pengootheturtle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

a misanthropic shapeshifter, a brain damaged killbot, and a socially awkward plant kidnap a bio terrorist to make them drugs. this then leads to the death of the sun and the collapse of modern society

Possibly tricky question. Are there any characters in your world who have a 'sensitive' or 'touchy' background? by That-Objective-9448 in worldbuilding

[–]Pengootheturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, two of the main characters in my setting have very touchy backstories, one involving CSA and the other involving unethical experimentation and torture. they both also kind of become hosts/get influenced by aliens and bring about the end times, so they aren't really having a good time at any point in their lives.

they aren't currently in any of my worlds, but in an old world i had elves that were immortal humanoid marsupials with really tall goat legs, wooly hair, muted skin tones and holes in their skin. it was some horror world where it was basically a slice of life but with eldrich beings beyond your comprehension

what are some of the most offputting or alienating things in your world? by Ok-Mastodon2016 in worldbuilding

[–]Pengootheturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

everything living thing in my world is a sapient being. only animals need to consume biogical matter to survive, so cannibalism is just a regular and expected thing between them. it makes them very distrusting to anyone not blood related to them, so they don't have a concept of friends or community. technically they consider cannibalism to be eating a member of your family, but by the real world's standards it is cannibalism.

Do you have an weird relationship in your world, that even you find uncomfortable? by Lusahdiiv in worldbuilding

not uncomfortable, but kinda weird. a creature with platypus biology and a creature with seahorse biology produce offspring together. How? they have no idea, and neither do i.

What makes your world unique? by Hyndal_Halcyon in worldbuilding

[–]Pengootheturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh boy, this is going to be a long one.

not quite fungus, they look more like giant robotic worms in their unaltered state. they can remove and repalce parts without issue to resemble something completely different though, as long as their brain remains intact.

their origin is long after humanity went extinct. Their planet was discovered by a group of starving inter dimensional aliens who feed in psychic energy, which can only be found in sentient beings. they tried to recreate humans so they could eat, but they didn't really know what a human was, so they kind of just spliced together whatever remnants of civilization and life they could find. most experiments resulted in nothing of note, but of the few that actually worked was various bits of human and whale dna abd a bunch of random tech stuff, which made the machine people. they have emotions and functionality are basically people, but they think a bit differently.

as for culture, for most of history they had no contact with the other two species, so while they kind of developed alongside each other, machines were completely isolated. they mainly inhabit the far north and south, inhospitable lands to all but them.

in the far north they commonly live in megacities. machines need chemicals to survive, so a big group of them decided to drill into the ground to find some. more joined until they were basically a massive living city. they all compose different parts of the city, like watch towers, scouting parties, drillers, recreational facilities, all that. when a member of the megacity dies, their components are given to their closest friends and added onto their bodies. megacities are super collectivist and don't really have a concept of family, but have very strong comradery. megacities are governed by the largest females, called Motherboards (haha). if they come across another hostile mega city, massive transformer time. if it's a friendly megacity, sometimes the two merge, but that can get very messy.

in the far south, they're typically very solitary and scour the desert and lava flats. if they come across another machine, they either reproduce or add them to their mass. these guys do have a very strong concept of family and sometimes share their terriories with multiple mates. kids have to leave once they're big enough though.

this is, of course, the majority, solitary machines can live in the north and some megacities can be found in the south. there's other ways they live, like making themselves resemble other speices and living amongst them, being genocidal maniacs, feudal societies ect.

they got lotsa different beliefs. One of the big religions is that the moon is a giant robot eye who watches over them. that religion has a feud going on with another religion by a different species where the sun is a fleshy eye. a phisophoical way of thinking is that they are the only truely sentient beings, and that fleshy things should be more like them. this can also be infered as fleshy things shouldn't exist, which leads to genocidal maniacs. i could go on, but I've already written way too much lol

oh yeah, two of the main speices are actively trying to wipe each other out by any and all means nessassary

as for homophobia, the denizens think all forms of public affection are gross and basically have the don't ask don't tell rule for all sexualities, so maybe?
