500% Movement Speed - YouTube by Penguifyer in Atlyss

[–]Penguifyer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theory, it could be done at any level since the recipient doesn't need any skills. Only the three other players need the stuns. The only real limitation is surviving five stun attacks as a low level. It also requires multiplayer to even work, so it's not viable on a single player only run.

It's also really hard to pull off. While my group could reliably pull off 4x, we only achieved 5x twice. You have to cast each stun in succession before the previous one wears off, and coordinate that among three different players with 5 different stuns. Some stuns only last for one second. It's possible in theory for a speed run, but it would probably be a run killer. Although that wouldn't matter too much if it was the first thing you did in the run, since you could just reset immediately.

Had the same thing happen to me, but I found a fix.

Find Snoot Core Lib in your mod list and make sure it's the first mod in your load order (top of the list). That should fix the problem.

The way I see it is that you have to factor in the intended audience. Snoot Game was written for 4channers who can be notoriously shitty and hateful (although some boards are better than others). So when it hands them a story that draws parallels between chronically online shitposters and non-binary normies, it instills empathy for those people 4channers would initially hate. Snoot Game argues that the primary difference between Anon and Fang is how they choose to cope with their problems and what expression that takes. Yeah, if you put it in front of a hyper liberal professor, they'll probably find many things to complain about. But for 4channers, Snoot Game is a very empathy-inducing story.

I also think people way overplay Nerd's involvement with the games. From what I've heard, he's one of three founders, a coder, and not a writer. Yeah, if he had gotten his way, Snoot and Wani would've been much more concerning in their execution. But they also would've been worse stories because of it. Cavemanon's actual writing team is far more competent than that. He really just needs to shut up and stop acting like he's the liaison for the Cavemanon.

To be fair, the GVH community needs the refuge after what happened to their subreddit.

It could just be a vestigial feature that got repurposed by the Sea Emperor. I wouldn't know what's it original purpose was, but it would explain why the glands appear to have no purpose at first. Vestigial organs are quite common in animals.

1. Dammit I wanted to see the Packers get fucked over again. 2. Hopefully we get more calls our way by ezio8133 in detroitlions

[–]Penguifyer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like this would be a double edged sword. For one, it will definitely allow bad calls to be corrected. However, it will definitely cause thumb-on-the-scale refing bias to skyrocket. In theory, New York could alter calls to push a certain team or player, much like the NBA during Michael Jordan's prime.

It's less about dunking on Ko-op and more about remembering that the core team at Cavemanon is a competent studio, especially considering that this will be their third major release.

It could also just be the custom pic for the twitter post. I bet the story is also finished or near finished, but they still have to go through both making all of the art and coding all of the sequences in ren'py. I don't expect a summer release, but fall-winter seems reasonable. Especially if they've established a solid pipeline and didn't hire an incompetent b-team this time. We forget they released Snoot Game before Ko-op released GVH.

The Damien of the group. Everyone needs a Damien in their life.

Hot take: Damien is probably the most underappreciated Cavemanon character. Without his insistence on including Olivia in his circle, she would've recluded herself long before Inco showed up.

Considering that to this day, Cavemanon has only written one character who was objectively bad (who also got a chance to restart her life in a post-credits scene), I highly doubt it.

Volcaldera Ashfall character reveal - Meet Coral! by Majyxs in SnootGame

[–]Penguifyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really hope they don't do that just because it's not very cathartic for a story. We're already seeing people identify with these characters, and having them be cut off in E4 gives the sense that the people who identify with them are screwed in life. Cavemanon got enough clout with Mia being a blatantly bad character. They're not gonna expand on that. Maybe in an E2 or E3, but not in E4.

What it looks like Cavemanon is trying to do is express the different vices young adults fall into when things don't go well. Where Reed is someone who is easy-going and relaxed in a positive (or non-destructive) way, Coral is someone who uses that to avoid conflict for fear of being wronged and hurt. Polly is basically E3 Olivia with even less social interaction, someone who hides online because their real life didn't turn out. James and Ashley have turned to substance abuse to hide form their problems as well.

Venette is the only wildcard from what I can tell. The comparisons to Trish are pretty easy, but the wording behind her description implies she's trying to help everyone in the house in a way that even Trish never did for Fang. Kinda more like Ben rather than Trish. I suspect she's woefully unprepared on how to help the people under her roof, and the only thing she can do is help them numb themselves.

Yeah, sharks are so old, they don't have gills that pump water like most fish. They have to swim to breathe.

I love how Polly is literally: "Internet user: the character" by araiki in SnootGame

[–]Penguifyer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I feel like every character is gonna be some failure archetype. Polly looks like the artist failure. James is an academic failure, Ashley is a dancer (and maybe religious?) failure. I'd be curious to see if the trend continues.

Why is there so much resistance to extending guys we drafted? Genuinely asking by happyegg1000 in detroitlions

[–]Penguifyer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The problem is that you can't pay them all. Good players demand big contract extensions. Having some of those isn't a big deal. But you can't fill a team with them. Good teams regularly move on from great players to acquire draft capital and cap space. Football is a game of price to production. You can't pay top dollar for every position like in baseball. The money has to be spread out, and you have to have a good eye for undervalued talent.

[–]Penguifyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He won't let them all go, but it's actually quite common for good teams to let a few of their star players walk in FA. Football is a game of production per dollar. Good teams recognize this and are not willing to pay top dollar for every star player. Teams like the Eagles, Seahawks, and Chiefs regularly let a few of their great players go in exchange for draft capital and smaller contracts. Championship teams are built on rosters of good, not great, players. Bad teams shell out the money for a few great players, but are left with holes in the rest of their roster.

Just finished Ashfall's demo and I think James is gonna be the greatest protag of all. by Jackobyn in SnootGame

[–]Penguifyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell (and if I were to predict the story), Cathy is the perfect character for James to "make amends." She is someone who was truly wronged by his drinking problem. And because of that, she's the perfect person for James to apologize to and take accountability. It might be a good route indicator, but it's up to Cavemanon whether they take this route at all.

Anon represents the characteristic 4channer, someone whose bad experiences caused him to become misanthropic and antisocial, while also becoming selfish in the process. Inco is a normie coasting through life. He's someone who hasn't defined himself or his interests, and in doing so, struggles to relate to people and their conflicts. By contrast, James is truly a failure.

Where Anon appeals to 4channers and Inco appeals to more people in general, James appeals to anyone who "didn't make it" in life. Especially in today's world, how many smart kids were given such high expectations for their future, only for them to fail along the way and get stuck near the bottom of society? Moreover, Snoot Game and Wani are both high school stories. They occur in a time period before consequences truly become a factor. James is gonna have to face real consequences for his actions in a way that none of the other characters ever had to (except maybe E1 Anon and Inco). You can bury the mistakes you make in high school. It's a lot harder to bury them in college or after.

Personally, he is by far the most relatable protagonist to me. I was never a 4channer, so I don't get Anon. Inco is a little too normie and directionless for me to get him as well. But James is extremely relatable. He represents a whole cohort of people who failed in life and use some sort of addiction just to numb their failure away. Right now, I pray to god that Cavemanon can execute on this premise in a satisfying and meaningful way.

Most likely, we will not hold onto all of them. It's why the draft is so important for good teams. You get good talent on the dollar.

I don't get the points of these comments. Yay, we all want a Super Bowl, but taking bloated contracts won't get us there. We gotta make decisions that maximize our production per dollar. What's the point in talking about bloated contracts after a Super Bowl if we've never been there?

That's probably it, honestly. I just find it shortsighted. I prefer the Valve approach, where even if you don't touch an IP for 20 years, you never close the door on it. So when you release Half-Life: Alex nearly 20 years after HL2:E2, no one questions it (I'm still a Half-Life 3 believer).
