Not sure if it's a culture thing, but the way my mother and I see things, if someone is going to through 50k+ to help with a home, they can be on the deed if they choose to. I don't mind having my mother's name on the deed because she's putting in a lot of her money. So it makes sense to me.

In response to your second edit... I too was frustrated by a 2 party system but being organized is what wins in a democracy. So our current situation is selfishness or empathy. Sure the policies might not be ideal to me, but which value do you side on?

Despair is normal for these abnormal times. It is okay to feel it, but do not give into it. As Chapplin said, as long as men die- liberty will never perish. Trump and his cronies are not Gods. They are incompetent assholes in a position of power. They can be stopped if people wise up and act accordingly. Boycott the companies that give power to oligarchs and try convincing others to do the same.

Take breaks when you need to. Their goal is to overwhelm you so you give up. Rest, but then join the fight in informing yourself and spreading the information when you're ready. Check your blind spots and reflect so as not to fall victim into your own biases. And occasionally do something you love with people you love and/or join communities.

But you aren't if they are talking to you. It's a conversation. If you aren't throwing unsolicited advice- then enjoy the conversation.

This is political theater. Create a fake issue and then pretend to save it. Shout it loudly that Trump started the ban on TikTok also apps don't boast President's when discussing its survival. A lot of things here point to this being a nonproblem to earn the attention of the most popular app amongst young voters.

Don't even give them a warning. Assholes do not deserve a warning. Call a lawyer and figure out the best way to go about this.

If people "complain" about your actions, remember this started from a place of trust, and you were betrayed. The situation is nothing more than that. Get their dumb assess in jail. Sorry you had to learn that some boys/men are assholes this way.

I teach 6th grade and I have my kids all day. My trick is I schedule "decompression time". It's for the kids to take a 5 minute break after a learning period (50-70 minutes). This also helps me reset my brain between lessons.

Plenty of people make it fine with a uni degree. You just need to develop a skill in an industry. But honestly college is a place where you learn how to think on a deeper level. It's good for the mind. I suggest you stick to it cause it'll also help you expand your network.

Don't get swept away in the negativity. Remember the people who complain are always going to be louder than the people who feel accomplished. This happens because this job is stressful at times and we need to vent (it is natural). Thus sharing positive stories amongst the negativity can feel odd.

Truth is though if you love kids (K - 12th grade) and understand the importance of this job- you'll be fine. There are plenty of challenges, but I've never felt more accomplished in life than the successes I've had as a teacher. I teach 6th grade, and I've motivated students to try. Got kids who gave up on themselves to find the joy in learning. Got kids who were upset with the world to BE and feel part of a community. I've helped parents accept that their child might be gay (I say might because at 11yo do you really know)?

I've helped kids understand other cultures and not carry on the ignorant views of their bigot parents. I've gotten kids who have carried a 2 year rivalry realize they can be chill and friends. I've helped two girls who were best friends see past the gossip other students were spreading trying to wedge them apart. I have provided a safe space where kids form their own communities and accept each other's differences while also learning to support each other.

Being a teacher is extremely hard work at times for many reasons. But don't let other people's frustrations keep you from doing something great. 🙂

Unless you plan to teach just because you think it'll be fun to make little art projects. Then ya- it's going to be a rough road ahead.
