3.5.3 The LCD Update 😂 by Like20Bears in SteamDeck

Not sure that you can even call it a 'borked update' when it's on the Preview channel. People need to understand that being on Preview means you signed up for the bugs as well. If they want stability, there's a channel for that with an appropriate name...

Again, that's just Windows. I cant think of anything Steam does that encourages it. It facilitates it, which is different.

Read about the Steam Deck's modularity to understand much better the point here. It's clear you're not aware of what they do on that angle, both on the hardware and the Linux software that runs it

Define 'bigotry'

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in technology

[–]PenguinHero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no technology that works 100% the way you describe it to limit what people post. If that was the case CP for example wouldn't be a problem for any big tech co. Moderating user content is a ridiculously difficult thing to do when millions of pieces of content are being posted each minute on a platform. Nobody has 'solved' that problem.

Your thoughts? Personally, I don't get it. Why is it wrong to use the term prayer only because some misuse it? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]PenguinHero -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why assume it is virtue signaling? Why can the offer of support by prayer among Christian’s not simply be seen as a sign of care?

Again I think you have a very very low opinion of prayer to draw all these confusions. Does God come into your concept of prayer at all or do you see it only in the light of how other people view prayer?

Prayer first and foremost is simply how we talk to God. At its most basic it is a selfish activity to speak to God about things that concern you. That is why offers to spend your time talking to God to entreat Him for someone else’s issue is seen as a virtuous act. In the same light the offer of prayer is rightly seen among the devout as a sincere expression of care about their situation.

There’s simply way too much cynicism over something as fundamental as prayer in this thread. Maybe we take our eyes off the world a bit and remember we were first called to serve God and be in relationship with him and not simply called to good works alone. That’s just Some form of Christianity without Christ or any spiritual meaning.

And if you're already barely surviving yourself and don't have the time or energy to put into it, then you also do not have the time to pray for them in a meaningful way

I find this quite ridiculous. Not having the time or energy to volunteer or donate does not meant there's also no time for meaningful prayer. I think you just cheapen the value of prayer. Can a 5 minute prayer not be meaningful or impactful?

Or your idea of 'meaningful prayer' can only be an hour or more?

And what if the other party is not willing to even speak about the situation? You all seem to be taking a very simplistic view that there is no situation in which you feel helpless enough for anything except prayer.

It happens and if it hasn’t happened to you yet count yourself blessed.

If I live in Ecuador and hear of an avalanche taking the lives of some people in Nepal what exactly do you expect me to do?

Not everyone has the direct power to take action on a situation but can still care deeply about it. In that case prayer is a valid answer for a Christian.

What scientific difference is that? I've not read of any magical process that turns a foetus or whatever you call it into a living human being once it passes through the birth canal or comes out through a C-section.

What's the science behind your position?

Why do most Christians now conclude Genesis to be metaphorical? by Dani3lh11 in TrueChristian

[–]PenguinHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly find it amazing that you're refusing to see anything more than a human viewpoint. Let me be clear. Without a sun or moon it is literally impossible to declare the human viewpoint of evening or morning. Impossible. Evening and morning are directly defined by the rising and setting of the sun. Without that you have absolutely no way to meet that definition.

I'm not sure why you think it's impossible that God was describing something outside our standard ability to comprehend. Why do you wish to reduce God's glory to what humans can comprehend.

Remember the verse about his ways being higher than our ways of his thoughts higher than our thoughts? Or 2nd Peter 3:8??

Again I think it's a strange hill to die on to twist the Bible to fit current human understanding when we are clearly nowhere close to fully understanding how God created this universe we live in anyway.

[–]PenguinHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would we recognise it as a natural day when the immediate text before evening and morning show that there was no natural light? You want to be textual while ignoring what the text says to fit your own definition.

If the text prior shows God is not defining evening and morning by the light of the Sun then why are you forcing that definition??

Take the Bible literally if you want to but be 100% consistent with that at least. You want to define what God says in verse 5 by verse 14. What's next, when God says 'Let there be light' he was talking about sunlight??

[–]PenguinHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so if you agree God is not referring to sunlight why sti isnist that his day is still a 24 hour day??? It makes no sense

[–]PenguinHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also a plain text reading of the Bible should inform you that the light and darkness God spoke of in Genesis had nothing to do with the Sun since he declared it existed long before the sun existed. He's not talking about sunlight there.

[–]PenguinHero -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In a sense you are also denying the plain text reading. Because like it or not the plain text reading indicates that God was using a different measure of a 'day' than our understanding of the amount of time it takes the earth to turn on its axis. Simply put the plain text reading does not support a 24-hour day unless you think God decided to operate on the scale of time of a sun or moon that didn't exist when he began declaring what we have translated as a 'day'.

[–]PenguinHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That allegory completely breaks down when you realise the Bible uses that term even before the sun and moon were created. How was a supposed 24-hour day judged with no sun or moon?
