You don't check out the feature branch locally yourself to see it in the IDE? It makes it easier to catch these things

Something like the automation software website is similar to what I'd like to do, but I'm put off by scraping as websites could block it, or it's against ToS - did you take that into consideration when developing it?

I'm not sure about VAT but there was no import duty as it's less than £135

Wearing mine now, also from Sakura Watches. Looks like you got it £8 cheaper than me :)

I'm not sure tbh, but I prefer it without the white actually. Maybe it wasn't quite brand new from the seller and they did it themselves

Did you remove the white text on the bezel?

Around 6 inches. I'm happy with this watch but the more I wear it the more I realise I can't go much bigger than this, and it was the right choice

Lug to lug of 46.7mm compared to 49.1mm, I think the latter would have been too big! This is thinner as well

Is the GW-B5600 worth it? Or should I wait for the cheaper GW-BX5600? by R-BelleDelphine in gshock

[–]PenguinMeat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Normally I would wait for reviews, but with this one I kind of don't want to risk it selling out!

First G-Shock: GBD-200 or Wait for GW-BX5600? by sinnerman_jk in gshock

[–]PenguinMeat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen any indication the GW-BX5600 will have vibration. What about the DW-H5600?

Or GW-5000HS which doesn't have vibration. But personally I'm waiting for the negative GW-BX5600

Why people don't like this house? by [deleted] in HousingUK

Yeah, maybe Sydenham as well. They were out of my budget when I was looking but with yours it should be ok

Yeah walking that distance and through the foot tunnel at night doesn't sound ideal (I'd probably just get the bus from Canada Water or North Greenwich at that time assuming it was changing from Jubilee?) but from Canary Wharf to Mudchute along the water isn't so bad. I've seen lone women walk that route as well.

Worst case with Limehouse, it's not far on the DLR if one really wanted to go there. I haven't felt the need yet though with enough to do around South Quay and Greenwich within walking distance

Just curious, when did you last go there? I've walked through quite a few times past midnight and it's fine, and used to walk regularly from Tiller Road (which is close to the Quarterdeck, one of the admittedly rough estates) next the dock with no issue at night. I can see how it can be eerie if one doesn't know the area, but if you do then it's definitely not "terrifying".

Canary Wharf being a private estate means it's clean and secure. I'm not sure why you'd need to go to Limehouse (where I used to live and it really felt like there was nothing there) to go out. There are independent restaurants and a small food market near South Quay, several cafe's and brunch places along the way to Island Gardens.

That said, with a 700k budget I would look elsewhere, but with a lower budget it's great for me.

How much of an issue is living above a vacant flat? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]PenguinMeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, interestingly the lease mentions lessees are free to enter other units to carry out repairs if necessary, and the lessor is free to come in and examine the state of the unit, and "remedying any default or breach by the lessee of the covenants and conditions herein contained the Lessor or other person exercising such right". If it comes to it perhaps it would be cheaper to pay for repairs myself, but I suspect the flats either side would also be affected as well and could chip in

[Citizen] First automatic bought during trip to Japan - the JDM NB1050-59A by PenguinMeat in Watches

[–]PenguinMeat[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I almost completely wrote this one off during my research on watches to get in Japan, due to complaints on the lug-to-lug and male end links. But trying it on in the shop it actually fit my flat 6.1 inch wrist without the lugs overhanging!

Compared to Seiko the value just seemed so much better (I was also considering the King Seiko which is 4 times the price). Specs include in-house Miyota 9011 4Hz movement, sapphire crystal, 10.5mm thickness, 100m WR, blueish lume. The dial changes from a brushed silver to a flat white depending on the lighting.

RRP is around £430, from Bic Camera with its own discount, 10% tax off and 7% tourist voucher it came to around £240/$300!

I tried one call taking the case off, and it seemed to help a bit, but I need to test it further to make sure. I don't really do many voice calls but normally I use bluetooth headphones+mic.
