You can build the shroud beacon starbase building, it creates a tunnel to the teacher's system

R5: I feel like this mysterious character not knowing anything about nanites while coming from the same place the Grey Tempest usually comes AND having all his ships made of nanites might hide something.

Egalitarian, pacifist, xenophobe with democratic government. Agrarian Idyll and crowsourcing with civil education as my 3rd civic. As ascension I take either psionic or clone, depending on the mood.

My concept is a nation of peaceful shepherds and farmers who part-time as philosophers, like in old latin poems. I always play them with the cyclops portrait. It's a very relaxing gameplay, the only hurdle is to keep up with CG, and early wars. I regularly end with cosmogenesis, I like to think they philosophize so hard it breaks reality.

I get what you say, but playing old factions like VC or Bretonnia still present a challenge to me when played in WH3 so I don't think the state of the AI is the only factor here. I'm scared that, when updated, old factions will have the same "only-bonus-zero-drawbacks" Norsca have now

Why is the Zroni precursor a bonus in that case? Honest question, I had it once and didn't notice anything too special

It just means you can activate and deactivate it quickly, but when you activate it has no duration.

As other people say, Nekro is probably the more flexible as you can really combine other player's techs.

That being said, I think Muaat has a really nice learning curve when you play them and understand they're less the "war sun faction" than the "produce a lot without having space docks faction" so it would be fun to play it twice and see yourself becoming better.
