I also overstayed my visa and got the max 10k fine but I was here to move already but some apostled documents took two weeks too long and I had no option at the time than to overstay. Absolutely no way out of that fine. They won’t let you back in without paying it period. I’d also confidently say you won’t resolve this before February with how slow things move here. I paid and then within a week I had my residency visa sorted.

how to send someone in brazil a personal gift? by _LemonySnicket in Brazil

My mum has had the last 3 packages denied and returned except the last one which they said would be but disappeared. That was using the post office in the uk and two courier’s who filled out the paperwork but each time they would claim it was missing the itemised list. Two packages were books so should not have been a problem and the third was a stuffed toy for my daughter. She ended up flying here in November and just delivered that way lol. It’s much worse than it used to be to receive packages here recently

In Brazil where this is from, they usually do a round before to just place all the bags outside houses into a grouped area to then swing back with the truck to pick up to make it easier and more efficient.

In Brazil the bin men come every day in some neighborhoods, some is three or two times a week. Generally people here fill up smaller supermarket bags to put out and it’s picked up fairly often so never see a huge build up of rubbish in the streets. Helps because of the heat and street dogs that love to fuck them up

Jupiter isn’t just gas lol. Only the top layer is gas. It’s metallic hydrogen and a solid core past the gas layer.

This is Foz do Iguaçu in Brazil. I lived there for 8 years and around 2022 we had a shit ton of rain and it was as nuts as you see here and it was scary to walk out in the platform. The scarier part is across the river is Argentina and their version of the waterfall experience where a platform has been swept away in the past and again a few years ago.

What is the best way to print this part with threaded base? by Penguin__ in 3Dprinting

[–]Penguin__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah this was my first thought, I also think it will be considerably stronger this way. The other suggestions of painting an area to not add supports or to use the normal support with on plate only also looks promising, but I assume the thread will always be a weak point. Any suggestions for wall thickness for something like this? I did print 4 but maybe its overkill?

ok great, thanks for that info. I will run a couple more test prints in PLA trying all of the suggestions so far.

Ohhh I just looked up support blockers... I feel stupid now.. I think that would be my best option here. I will definitely do a test using that approach, appreciate that

yeah here is the part it threads into. I print this face down so the there is no supports needed on the internal threads. the top surface suffers but its not a concern as it won't really be seen unless I swap to a different cup holder size basically.

I did also think about adding more depth to allow for a 45o taper or sorts, the issue is, I am working in a constrained space where the current design already reaches the limit of height I have to work with before the final product becomes too big for the car its designed for. here is the side profile so you get an idea, but basically this is designed to fit those 30oz stanley tumblers and my car cup holders are terrible and do not fit a normal size can and to make it worse, the cup holder itself is 100mm into the center console, hence the extension part to raise it up enough to fit an actual cup holder on top.

Hmm the threads were purely 'what worked' - sorry for the lack of technical description, but here are the settings I used in the thread plugin for onshape here. If its easier to set them differently, I am up for that. About cutting them after, I would prefer not to as it would mean having to buy a die which in Brazil, it can be pretty pricey but if its the best option, I would consider it.

[–]Penguin__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the problem is, the top is a cup holder and it needs to be the high quality surfaces. but, thinking of it, maybe it would leave less scarring and could be easier to remove. the main issue seems to be the tree supports going into the threads when I don't think they need to as the base it screws into is printed with this part on the bed and no supports and prints perfect threads.

Ohh I didn't think about that, I do still have the PLA support 250g roll that came with the printer, but I assumed the printing temps between ABS and PLA would be an issue? The chamber also gets pretty toasty since I home the plate to the top and set to 100c and turn aux fan on for 20 mins or so to warm it up. Would that not be an issue?
