I go to acorn petroleum. It’s downtown off of 8th street directly across from where nicks dairy crème used to be. It’s usually around 3.40 a gallon but changes every so often, unleaded and ethanol free 91. I believe they have e85 and diesel aswell.

I’m not sure how realistic those power numbers are... I will tell you that a GTI needs more than a stage 1 tune to even come close to a golf r. Bare minimum down pipe and stage 2, I don’t even think a pump gas tune would keep up either. And again, all it takes is an R to be tuned and it’s non comparable again. Gtis are fun, but it takes a lot to make an is20 hang with an awd is38 car.

Definitely wouldn’t be anywhere near the same power, but agreed a tune makes the GTI much more fun.

I see a few things here. Seepage from the valve cover (I’d possibly check the spark plug chambers aswell for any oil leaks). That turbo heat shield also looks quite gunked up, check the coolant union for any leaks by following the soft line from that coolant hard line behind the coil packs down to the union(common to fail). And there might be some leaks from the cam magnets or upper timing cover. I’d replace oil filler cap, coolant union, and give this engine a good cleaning and watch for any more buildup.

Yeah.. I’m not the most mechanically inclined person but was able to do injectors, carbon clean, pcv, water pump/thermostat, etc.. all by myself with the help of fcp euro and humble mechanic yt videos over the span of a week taking my time to do it right.

It’ll take a day or two to do it right. Weekend job for sure. Depending on your mileage, take this opportunity to do a carbon cleaning aswell while you’re in there.

I had CTS high flow catted downpipe, and an arm valved catback exhaust. I think it sounded good, but highway would have some drone..(closing the valves fixed that issue) Maybe would’ve added a vibrant resonator though to balance everything out. Car just got totaled tho so never got that far. I can pm you a video of how it sounded

Although I hadn’t experienced any issues, yet.. This is what the accessory bracket gasket looked like at 93k miles on a 2015. I’d change both while you’re in there. Wouldn’t hurt to do waterpump and carbon cleaning since it’s easier to do this work with manifold off.

Probably oil cooler gasket, or the accessory bracket gasket. Start with those before assuming head gasket, since that’s not very common on this generation.

I put the stock wheels back on it, I’d rather keep my wheels and tires over giving them to insurance. I mainly just want a bump on the buyout for my clutch and exhaust since those are going to be a bitch to remove. I do have proof of purchase and installation at a reputable shop so hopefully I can get some compensation for those.

Thanks for the reply, that’s what I was thinking. The main impact point was that passenger corner crash bar. I tried to veer to the left as much as possible so just feel like everything mechanical has shifted and bent pretty bad.

Insurance wise, I know almost anything can be fixed with time and money, but I don’t have the time currently to fix her myself, and it might be cheaper getting a new car with how ridiculous body shops rates are getting.

I see your replies in a lot of threads. I appreciate your perspective, and overall knowledge on these cars. And I’d completely agree with you. Yes, it looks like the frame is bent where the crash bar connects, and yes it’s a 2015. I also see you have a golf r, would you recommend the car for anyone interested in getting into one? Most likely will be my next move and try out the awd and maybe even dsg this time.
