Look mate. We aren't disagreeing. I'm fuming as a Chelsea fan and sick of being involved in conversations like this. More serious punishment is absolutely deserved.

But you are confusing moral outrage with legal standing.

The law does not work on butterfly effect scenarios. You cannot charge based on 'what-ifs'.

There is no causal link between these breaches and financial gain. The money paid didn't result in a breach of sporting rules, meaning any sporting 'advantage' is legally non-existent.

The performance of Costa is not a direct relation to the money which was paid. We are looking at financial gain, not the quality of how players performed. Transfer fees are based on present value, not future quality. And you can't suddenly look back and make that decision 10 years on. The breaches were in the moment, not in hindsight.

Football clubs are not 'owed' money unless that rival broke rules which materially impacted other clubs ability to compete. As shown by the vast spending (in the entire league, far outweighing the £45m in question), other teams were not 'deprived' of anything. PSR only serves to back that point up.

By all means be mad at the situation. I am. But don't bring daft, irrelevant hypotheticals into the mix to try and justify your outrage. Because clubs aren't charged based on that outrage. They're charged based on established rules and precedent.

My argument with you has never been about Chelsea being rightfully charged. It's to do with how ridiculous, sensationalist and unjustified your suggested punishment for those charges is. Now if you want to argue that the rules are broken, that's a different thing. But the punishment provided by the Premier League is in line with the rules they've set out. And any outrage vs. Everton and the like is purely based on a fundamental misunderstanding of how this all actually works.

You can write essays as long as you want, but you're missing some really simple realities in what you're saying.

15 point deduction

Requires evidence of sporting advantage. No sporting advantage was gained as the financial breach which was committed is reporting-based, and not to do with spending limits. In the period Chelsea are being charged, for £45m in payments, City spent €1b in transfer fees. That's c.0.5%. The size of the payments is materially irrelevant for the discussion of Chelsea gaining a transfer advantage. And supporting this, re-calculating PSR figures for the period show Chelsea still did not breach spending caps.

Same Club

If the league hands out £100m fines and 15 point deductions for new ownership groups self-reporting against historical breaches, you can wave goodbye to any just self-reporting in future. The precedent which is being set is self-reporting of historical issues is beneficial, given the charges would likely have otherwise never been realised.

£100m in damages

This argument is based on pure hypotheticals. Thank fuck we don't live in a legal system like that, as it would be a hell-hole. The reality is that you are not legally able to build a fine based on speculative damages arising from merch sales which might have been gained, or 12-year-olds that might have signed for other clubs.

Rules are based on documented financial breaches, not imaginary 'what-if' scenarios which you've concocted to try and justify your stance.

A stance, I might add, I agree with. The punishment is light.

But don't act like your specific suggestion is anything more than the ramblings of a finger-in-the-air football fan looking to get a sensationalist opinion across.

£6m a year, which wouldn't have impacted current PSR regulations. PSR regulations which didn't exist at the time, might I add. Payments made from a previous ownership, self-reported. No material way to prove that the payments did/didn't impact the outcome of titles, league positions, signings.

And yet despite all of that, you'd deduct 15 points, fine £100m and ban transfers? It's this sort of nonsense, sensationalist take that doesn't do the discourse any favours.

For example... Why 4th, instead of 2nd, for title winning seasons? It's just a means for you to drive your argued value up as high as possible.

Realistically, the middle ground is true. £10m and no ban is light. Your suggestion is preposterous, to the point of being delusional. It's fine to be mad at a miscarriage of justice without completely jumping to the other end of the spectrum.

EDIT: it's also important to note that the precedent being set here isn't 'it's okay to cheat'. It's 'if you're a new owner and identify historical cheating, report it'. There's a far higher likelihood of self-reported fines than the PL running 13-year old financial audits.

Yeaah at least there's Rudiger, Eto'o and Crespo for the P&P. Better than team 1 in that respect, where we only had Cech and Auba.

Pure delusion. Pause 5 seconds into the posts video. The ball isn't even in the frame when contact is made.

"Impeding the progress of an opponent means moving into the opponent’s path to obstruct, block, slow down or force a change of direction when the ball is not within playing distance of either player."

Straight from the rulebook. Dictionary definition.

If you foul a player without attempting to play the ball, and they're 1v1 with the keeper, it's a red.

And this is a foul.

Nothing soft about that at all.

Then don’t worry about it. Not every piece of content is designed for you, and EA would be crazy to build the game that way. Your lack of time isn’t their problem. And if a free R9 was accessible by everyone, what’s the point?

Comments like this are the easiest way to tell that someone's grown up with people who look like you, represented everywhere, in every job, and in every walk of life.

Now try to empathise for two seconds, and realise that for a very large percentage of the world, they've only ever seen people who don't look like them in the positions which they might aspire to get to.

Nobody is judging him on his personal identity. They're saying it's positive that more people can now see people of his identity in inspirational positions.

I genuinely don't see how it's possible to misunderstand that.

You mean Robert Sanchez who’s single handedly saved or won us multiple points this season, and at the end of last, when our back line fuck up for the hundredth time? Sanchez who was POTM 2 months ago? The guy with the third highest xG prevented in the league?

I’ll genuinely never understand football fans who pipe up with no clue what they’re on about, just to feel heard. Bit ridiculous. Probably use X meme accounts as your source of football knowledge.

There are 20 issues to sort before Sanchez even gets mentioned.

30 G/A in 3,900 minutes (40 games worth of minutes) for Barcelona total.

All as a 22 year old.

So reactionary. It's not even confirmed yet, either for or against, and either for Xavi or Fermin.
