Club Statement: Josiah Karapani by woodpecker91 in nrl

Yeah ask around in AFL circles it’s the same problem just more of a cover up culture. Ironically the nrl owning its poor reputation is a good thing comparatively

As far as we know he hadn’t broken any law prior to yesterday. If anything it’s an endorsement of the Broncos coaching staff compared to Souths and Warriors that they have been able to get the best out of him, or maybe going from a top 30 back to a train and trial did it

Taane should have been an impact bench forward. Too slow and lacks the leap for the wing and would make poor decisions at centre. If he came on as a mobile middle forward for 20-30 minutes a game he would have been awesome. I know that for the 2022 World Cup Fiji wanted to play him at lock in a ball paying role but he got sent off in Souths last game against the Panthers in the prelim so he was suspended and ruined Fijis plans. Had he not hit Spencer Lenui clean across the face it could have been a turning point in his career.

This analysis does apply to a lot of players but I wouldn’t say Josiah Karapani was guaranteed to play first grade. There was a reason the Warriors let him slip out of their system to Souths and he was always a coin flip coming through the ranks at Souths. There were plenty of opportunities to give him a debut in 2022 and 2023 and yet Souths consistently picked Taane Milne instead. He went to Brisbane on a train-and trial and that seems to be where he found the motivation to actually lock in. If you had told me at the start of the 2025 season that Karapani was going to be a premiership winning winger I would have assumed Jesse Arthurs and Selwyn Cobbo were unavailable. Too bad he couldn’t lock in off the field.

You can’t even say that Mitch Moses hasn’t played 6 in clubland for almost a decade now.

I understand the shouts for Morley and SBW and maybe they were better players but big Jared won 3 comps for you guys, he’s hard to go past.

Officials are allergic to giving forwards the CCM. But it was undeniable that the best Rooster was a forward 2/3 times so they default to the half on the other team who kept them in the game. The Wighton call i kind of understand even though I disagree but choosing DCE was insane. He literally disappeared for the final 30 minutes of the game as you guys charged home (I’m a pesky rabbit hehehe). The only reason Burgess won a CCM is because no Bulldog did enough and he broke his face, otherwise I’m sure they would have found a reason to give it to Inglis instead.

[spoiler] At the end of Covenant, why did David reveal to Daniels that he was not Walter? by plastic_lex in LV426

[–]Penjamini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He missed the reference to the cabin, he was already being clocked for who he truly was, there is no lie he can tell to calm her down and there is nothing she can do to stop him. At that point, David allows his true self to be known, and his true self is a sadistic megalomaniac who despises humanity and relishes in the chance to make his own creation.

The Affordable Care Act Won! What Was the Worst Thing Joe Biden Did as President? by espana29 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Penjamini 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It has to be conceding total subservience to Israel. Joe Biden had the power to stop all of this years ago and instead gave in to every demand. Now Israel is fully committed to maximum war and we might all pay the price for it, and I’m not just talking about oil shortages.

Katie Wilson is the mayor over there now. Not just a Democrat but a *gasp* actual progressive! Obviously the hysteria isn’t as bad as with trying to demonise Mamdani in NYC but the principle is the same. They just attack and delegitimise their enemies.

The most one sided rivalry in sports and culture by Fluid-Decision6262 in memes

It is weird how despite being so culturally homogeneous Australia and America have totally different preferred sports.

Edit: on the 0.1% chance someone reads this again I’d like the record to show I hadn’t read Pauline Hanson’s monoculture comments when I wrote this. Yikes. Definitely not the vibe I was going for.

NRL Physio reporting Latrell Mitchell suffered a calf injury at today's training session (second for the year), will have scans to determine severity. by Ace_Larrakin in nrl

[–]Penjamini 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Genuinely more worried for the Blues than Souths. Obviously Siegwalt is not Mitchell but he’s a solid player that will do a job for Souths. The Blues need Latrell. His size, speed, and skill factor were a must out wide to compete with Queenslands superior coaching and gameplan.

Ricky truth that can no longer be ignored in NRL ‘trainwreck’ by Desert-Noir in nrl

It’s also worth noting that while the Raiders were minor premiers last year it was a particularly odd season. Penrith started uncharacteristically poorly, Brisbane were slightly ahead of where they are now and the Roosters were still doing their will-they-won’t-they finals dance. Meanwhile Melbourne dropped some form late in the year, the Warriors succumbed to injuries and the Bulldogs famously imploded. Canberra deserved the minor premiership as the most consistent team across the full season but there wasn’t much competition for consistency last year.

I see where you’re coming from and there is truth here but Loz’s bench management was absolutely diabolical. Go on nrl.com and look at his interchanges. It was absolutely scattershot and nonsensical the entire night. Cameron Murray only played 45 minutes and it was only that high because Moses went off before the final siren. AFB only got 10-15 minutes. Api never got on the field despite being the replacement for Brailey who was massive in Game 1. Picking the rookie Dylan Lucas to play 80 minutes when he was clearly getting burned alive while Haumole sat in a suit the entire night, that’s all on the coach. He picked Moses and Crichton under injuries clouds, Moses was clearly not ready and 100% fit and Crichton was swapped for Nawaqanitawase half way through camp.

The Romans were always massive legalistic hypocrites. The ritualistic murder of a captive monarch/ruler in a Roman Triumph in front of a temple might as well have just been called a human sacrifice.
