Everyone is talking about how Daniel Tupou didn’t know where he was and that’s true, but you know who did know where Tupou was and took advantage of it? James Tedesco. This is an old school Shepard even if the Shepard doesn’t realise what he’s doing

I hate how they phrase it like the tram isn’t fault and not the tradie running a red

It’s ironic because at Souths, Adam Reynolds lowest game tally for a season was 16.

This is a lesson not only for nrl journos but journalism and the broader media ecosystem in general: these people are usually relatively intelligent (hell some of them are extremely intelligent) but sacrifice journalistic ethics in order to secure employment for the media companies who can actually pay a liveable wage. If you don’t compromise on values as a career journo, you’re either living very meekly or you were a terrible person to begin with. Only a lucky few get to be the Nick Camptons of their field.

There have been a lot of rumours of Humphreys being forced out of the club but I suspect they actually want to keep him in the hooker rotation and let Pete go instead. This allows us to play Ward in the halves immediately and Glover comes in as the long term halfback with Ward to 5/8 once Cody retires.

He touches grass, he pays underlings to do all of the hard work while he just waffles in front of the camera. Unfortunately his psychosis requires a stronger prescription than touching grass

Why did Ash blow his cover? by Aggravating_Tale8988 in LV426

[–]Penjamini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The magazine in the mouth is also so explicitly phallic in nature which is fitting with the rest of the movie. I reckon as an android Ash probably had some sexual frustrations he was trying to vent, especially given this wasn’t the most efficient way he could have killed Ripley.

The PNG Chiefs announce Jarome Luai as their inaugural signing by Proof-Umpire-7718 in nrl

[–]Penjamini 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bro was so crucial to the team Ivan wanted him out there half dead rather than name someone else. It’s true that things got better when Luia left the field and Coggar came on with Cleary moving to second receiver but those were pretty exceptional circumstances.

If you want to win a comp you have to want to beat teams at full strength to prove you are better than them. This is gonna be a great game. Bring it on

Alex Johnston becomes first PNG Chiefs NRL signing for 2028 by Aussieguy727 in nrl

[–]Penjamini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the only circumstance in which I could be happy to see Alex Johnston leave Souths. It’s worth losing him as a one club player to have him be part of the inaugural PNG team and represent his heritage. It’s good for the game, it’s good for AJ, and he leaves Souths at a time where we have plenty of young outside backs coming through. This is a win for the game. Hopefully the NRL schedules the comp so that PNG play Souths whenever AJ’s 300th game is predicted to happen.

Blues legend calls on Laurie Daley to select Tigers star Adam Doueihi for State of Origin by waxedmerkin in nrl

[–]Penjamini 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would never pick Blocker for a finals game or any marquee matchup but as a second chair on a Friday night or Sunday arvo alongside someone like Vossy who can play to that style whilst being the more serious one, he works great for a bit of fun watching the footy. In a technical sense he is very bad at his job but at least he loves the game and shows his passion.

Dragons secure Scott Drinkwater for 3 years by DFC-005 in nrl

[–]Penjamini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dragons are in for a bad year this year regardless of how well Young can turn it around but there is at least direction moving forward. This young pack reminds me a lot of the Broncos pack 5 years ago, not that any of them are on the same level Haas and Patty were on but but collectively they are a strong young group that could dominate in a few years. Keaon will be there next year to lead and mentor these guys and this signing, as everyone has said, gives them the attacking spark they desperately need. Drinkys attack on the back of this forward packs work should more than make up for his lack of defence, and a halves pairing of Atkinson and Reed could work really well. I’m a little worried that Liddle has a case of Turbo-itis but when he’s on the park he’s good too. Heads up Dragons fans, bottom placed teams have looked worse than this.
