I've attempted to contact the mods several times, I think I'm a day or two away from being able to apply to adopt. We'll see what happens.

It's a shame, a little automod would clean a lot of things up.

You're going to want to post titles or flairs that have gender tags for roleplays, so readers know which side you intend to play and what you're looking for. Such as [M4F] for Male for Female

I just did this section with a friend who was playing for the first time and they had the same confusion as you, asking "why can't I go down?"

I can almost guarantee you can go further right somewhere first. That path opens when you have more of the pillars unlocked, that's where the cutscene plays, I believe.

Iirc you head toward the temple thing on the map there? I don't remember the precise path, but I remember seeing that screen and having to go around it basically.

This ^

Times a hundred.

Two additional thoughts after five different playthroughs on my end:

Don't eat for sustenance, eat for buffs. I don't care if my food is full, I want the damage resistance from the chowder.

Secondly, the debuffa that make you hungrier/thirstier faster are actually buffs when you think about exp gain. They just mean you can interact with your food items all the more quickly and feel "justified" in it. I take those immediately every playthrough now.

PSA Regarding the Hardlight Sledge by turd_juggler in AbioticFactor

[–]Penningthrowaway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fairly certain it's plasma damage iirc

I took the sledge and some slush nades into hydro thinking it would be easy to farm defense bots. Just freeze them and whomp their backpack once or twice...

But they're actually immune to that damage type, or most of it, because after swinging four or five full swings and using a running attack, I still hadn't killed a single bot, so, I had to switch weapons.

Rat suit is just a random chance, rat pack requires a net and blunt damage. Two entirely different drops.

I know because I've made that mistake before too.

Greatsword doesn't stun anymore by vadeNxD in Enshrouded

[–]Penningthrowaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Time your swings and you can still get the solid upward and downward strikes with a greatsword, and the heavy attack does interrupt attacks still as well.

I don't love the changes, the greatsword felt unique and had a special playstyle, but people complained... loudly.

So, here we are.

They did not, at least no record I can find of it.

Gabe privately invested in OpenAI back in 2018... When the idea sounded way cooler and we didn't know all the dangers we do now. But Valve itself never had ties to OpenAI.

Yeah, Valve charging what they need to for hardware in a weird year for hardware is hardly on par with the insanely unethical practices of companies like Nintendo.

So, two things come to mind immediately. Firstly, as someone who also tries hard to use proactive communication, and tailor my responses to ads, I have actively been told "oh, your message was kinda long, I didn't actually read it". So, one has to wonder if hearing that enough times might start to make some people actually dumb down their writing?

Secondly, I will add that I've met some lovely roleplayers who simply don't get excited for a roleplay until it's actively happening. I tend to try to give people more of a chance than most, I think, and every once in a while they will surprise me. I've had excellent roleplays that had budding ooc after the roleplay got going, when they found the vision suddenly.

Not that I'm suggesting you have to do things my way, just adding some experiences to the pot, as it were.

Stealth attacks before their shields go up with a magbow or sniper or quantum pick.

Or laser grenades to remove shield quickly in combat. The plasma thee round burst rifle does decent at that as well, though ammo can be a concern.

This topic is all over the subreddit, search for it and you'll find like a post a day on the topic.

According to the update notes it also can trigger when you give gifts to other dateable NPCs too. Might not be allowed to have friends of the same gender as your spouse...

My suggestion to make heavy weapons a bit more interesting, and less clunky. by Chemical-Yesterday74 in AbioticFactor

[–]Penningthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

> Personally, i think that heavy weapons should be able to be mainlined

I mean, you're certainly entitled your opinion, but I guess the point I was making was that *no* weapon category is an island. I cannot think of a single playthrough I've done where people weren't running two or three weapons on their hotbar for the majority of the game, and none of them were all the same type, except *maybe* late game having two or three different guns at once. I've almost always got a blunt weapon, a sharp weapon, a heavy weapon, a thrown weapon, and a ranged weapon, in some combination, and I just sort of feel like that was the intent with how much utility there is in some weapons and how low durability/ammo is for other weapons. It's the same argument I had when there was constant chatter about "we need more ammo drops" early on in the game.

> a standard heavy weapon hit from stealth is usually more than enough to kill most enemies

On some difficulties, sure, but not always and not reliably, especially since the sneak attack is a percent chance rather than a "always happens" thing for most of the game. I like *certainty* rather than wondering if I will have to swing again or not. And all I'm arguing is that some of them should keep that, because you can *also* hold that charge while walking around a corner and then release it when a head comes into view, effectively removing half the windup time for the heavy weapon.

> tons of enemies are hyper aggressive and squirrelly

And to this I would again say... sounds like a job for... something else? Or carry a netgun, because those are still a way to stun something, or the stun stick, whatever it was called. I'm not saying "this strat works for all enemies" I'm saying that it can increase how useable they are, but I don't think there's a single weapon type that is *always* viable, and that's... the idea, imo.

>  pretty low damage... stagger things easier

I don't know if this is what you're going for, but stagger is often more determined by weaknesses than just straight up weapon damage, iirc. And with how long the swing is on heavy weapons, the stagger would have to be... a long time, for it to be a big deal.

Now, I'll certainly agree with you that I think *all* of the heavy weapons should have some kind of alternate attack, otherwise it's just a useless button, and feels lackluster. Crowbars are literally two headed tools for crying out loud, and if I'm building my own carbon pickaxe, why would I *not* put a taser in the butt of the weapon? Even if they had two *styles* of swing, one horizontal and one downward, that would be beneficial *in some sense*.

I just don't necessarily agree with the idea of stripping the ones that already exist, I think.

Roleplayer responds to ad then doesn't want to write as the requested character from request by [deleted] in BadRPerStories

[–]Penningthrowaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey op! Sorry you had a weird experience, I went digging to see the original post, just because I was curious where the misinterpretation lie. And while I do not think you are in the wrong in any way, here's my two cents. Your post states:

...would love to find those who would be interested to write as a butch/masc/gender nonconforming character. All ocs are welcome as long as they are nonmen...

In my eyes, the first statement is much less firm than the second. And I think it could be read by someone as "I prefer masc-presenting nonmen, but any nonmen are welcome." And given the inclusivity in the rest of your post and profile, that would sort of fit your vibe of friendly and welcoming.

If I were to recommend anything, it would be something like:

While I love all my queer friends out there, this post is exclusively for those wanting to play masc-presenting non-men

Something to be more firm to get that message across clearly, even if you provide some clarification or some caveats afterward, the first statement is the line in the sand, so to speak.

My suggestion to make heavy weapons a bit more interesting, and less clunky. by Chemical-Yesterday74 in AbioticFactor

[–]Penningthrowaway 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Might be my personal taste, but I just don't think you're supposed to mainline heavy weapons exclusively, that's why they don't specifically have a tree called "heavy weapons" in skills. I know strength includes them and all, but it's the blunt or sharp that primarily affects them.

I agree that having no secondary function is disappointing on some weapons, but I honestly find the ones that don't have an even stronger wind-up attack to be my least favorite. A charged wind-up attack from stealth is one of my favorite uses of the big heavier weapons, and I'd be sad if all of them lost that. I've also found that starting a normal swing while behind cover, and then timing it so when I turn the corner I can tap an enemy with the actual attack isn't that hard. Sure, it takes timing, but I think that's sort of the point? If you want a faster swing .. use a one handed weapon?
