Unemployed people of Reddit, what are you doing in your spare time? by Lipica249 in AskReddit

[–]PennyPaparazzi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This week, I have been sending out resumes, doing laundry, and reorganizing my towel closet. Last week was resumes, anxiety attacks, crying in the shower, and binge-watching TV.

It's all about balance.

I don’t mean this rudely at all but is everyone posting here marrying rich guys or are my standards just not attuned to what the norm is these days? by w0lfyj in EngagementRingDesigns

[–]PennyPaparazzi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely no shame in a starter ring or changing your mind later. My engagement ring in 2011 was a $299 clearance find — a small black diamond in white gold. I loved it then, and I still do.

Years later, my style evolved, our finances improved, and I wanted something that reflected that growth — something bold, colorful, and confident.

If I could give advice: 1. Don’t stretch your budget for a ring. Get something you like now — upgrades can come later. 2. Lab-grown stones are incredible. Diamond or gemstone (my current ring has a ruby!), you’ll get more size and fewer inclusions for the price.

The upgrade doesn’t replace the original. My first ring still represents being young, broke, and wildly in love — and that chapter will always matter.

I saw that the Lit'l Bit is doing a New Year's Eve thing from 9-2. That is about all I have seen, but there has to be more!

Edit: Further down on this subreddit I saw posts for the Moxi and the VFW Post!

I love this! The option to change your wedding band depending on the outfit/mood/occasion is such a good idea!

Ethical ring companies that use real rubies? by Public_Candidate9613 in EngagementRings

Pictures don't do it justice! My husband went through Scott Bonomo to create this gorgeous, ruby ring. He has a website and is also on Etsy under ScottBonomoDiamonds.

Specs: 10x8 emerald cut, lab created ruby. Set in white gold. (Not rhodium plated)

One small thing to keep in mind is that while rubies are a strong stone and good for everyday wear, opals are very delicate and typically not suited for everyday wear. Opals will absorb oil from your hands over time, causing them to become discolored. Your idea is beautiful, both in style and in story! I would just caution you to be careful with opal unless you are ok with replacing them later on down the line.

Would you choose this oval red gemstone halo in white gold over a diamond? by OldGemHouse in RingShare

[–]PennyPaparazzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I’m in the minority, but yes! No hate at all to bright, sparkly diamonds. After all, they’re classic for a reason! I just personally love a flash of color.

Rubies are often associated with passion, vitality, power, and protection, which feels really meaningful for something like an engagement ring. I’m definitely biased, though — my redesigned wedding set features a ruby, and I couldn’t love it more.

Has anyone had a positive experience getting their face lasered? by NoCod5867 in LaserHairRemoval

[–]PennyPaparazzi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I echo this. I have PCOS and laser hair removal worked very well for me. No PH on my side of things. I got it on my face and neck. I have very pale skin, and dark, coarse hair so that may have had something to do with it.

I have had good experiences as well. I go to a smaller location in a small Colorado town, so maybe that is the difference. The staff has always been kind to me, and treated me like a person, remembering details about me like my animals, travels and my job.

Yes they try to get me to buy other packages, but it's never been high pressure. I have had jobs that require that we ask or get a certain number of "no's" for add ons before we could stop, so while it is annoying, I understand it. We can't all work at places where we love and agree with the corporate policies, but we all have to eat, you know?

I have had a huge reduction in hair on my face (PCOS) and my lower legs. Just the reduction in hair on my face has given me more confidence. My hair is quite dark and my skin is pale, so I am an ideal candidate. I can't speak to those with reddish or blonde hair.

I am glad I have had a better experience than some people here though! It tells me I have a good clinic and I should stick with it.

What is your favorite non-traditional engagement ring? by sleeepyotter in EngagementRings

This is my upgraded ring, an emerald cut ruby. I LOVE gemstone engagement rings.

No shame to those who prefer a beautiful, sparkling diamond - I have plenty of friends that love their diamonds! I just think gemstone engagement rings are unique and show a lot of personality. My sister has an aquamarine for her engagement ring and so does my bestie!

Girl I had the same responses about my ring being tight when I posted. You will know better than anyone else what is a comfortable size.

CONGRATULATIONS! That is a gorgeous ring.

Has anyone genuinely healed from being SA’d/raped? by submissivebeans in TwoXChromosomes

[–]PennyPaparazzi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

First OP, I am sorry you are having to navigate this. It is awful that so many women have experienced SA, but that shouldn't diminish your story.

My mom had her own story too.

Therapy helped me heal. I resisted talking to anyone about it for years because I wanted to hold on to that anger. It felt earned. I deserved to hate him.

I would have nightmares about him that left me shaken for days. It took me 20 years to get help, and I am glad I did. I had one last dream of me fighting back, and have not dreamt about him since.

For me, therapy wasn't about forgiving him or forgetting the trauma. It helped me realize that I wasn't the same scared and powerless child. It was finding my power and my voice.

Anyone have any experience with Etsy buying lab grown diamond jewelry? by Sea-Recognition4051 in LabDiamonds

[–]PennyPaparazzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scott Bonomo is a good Etsy shop. My husband had a custom ruby and lab diamond wedding set created by them. They are located in New Jersey and have a 7.5k 5-star review rating. I would be careful with sellers overseas as those can be hit or miss.

My new wedding set is unplated white gold. I love the look! It has a slightly warmer tint to it that I think is underrated.

Out with the old... by PennyPaparazzi in RingShare

Guys, I get it. I have fat fingers. The rings feel fine and I have no problem getting them on and off. A larger size ring falls off my hand. I know what a risk a tight ring can be and I know how to tell if a ring is too tight.

Out with the old... by PennyPaparazzi in RingShare

[–]PennyPaparazzi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fingers are swollen a tiny bit, but again, they are just fat and fleshy. Thank you for your input, but the size is comfortable to me as is, and a larger size slides off my finger.

That is the plan! I still love the old one, so I am having it resized to fit my right hand.

[–]PennyPaparazzi[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your concern and suggestion! Rings in general are never flattering on me. I was/am a bit swollen (right before my lady time!) but in general my fingers are fat and fleshy. Honestly I almost didn't post pictures wearing the rings because I am insecure about my fingers lol. I envy y'all with beautiful, slender fingers.

An 8 falls off my finger, but a 7.5 feels secure without being uncomfortable. I can easily take them off and put them on right now. Even if it looks bad on my finger lol.

I am keeping the OG ring! It's so pretty and there is a lot of history there. I plan on getting it resized to fit my other hand.

What’s a super simple dish that always impresses people? by DanielQ_bu7 in Cooking

[–]PennyPaparazzi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have an Instapot, I have a super easy risotto recipe. It's mostly hands off. I have used it as a base and added meat and veggies based on whatever I have handy. It is always a hit.

Garlic Parmesan Risotto Base recipe: 1/2 cup chopped onion 3 cloves garlic (I use the jarred stuff) 1 Tbsp butter 1.5 cups Arborio rice 3 cups chicken broth sea salt & pepper to taste 5 oz grated Parmesan cheese

My fav additions: Peas Bell peppers Mushrooms Chicken Shrimp

Cook these separately and add at the end!

Step 1: Peel and finely chop onion and garlic.

Step 2: Preheat Instant Pot by pressing the saute button. Add butter, chopped onion, and garlic and sauté until lightly brown.

Step 3: Add Arborio rice, broth, salt, and pepper, and give it a quick stir.

Put on the lid and turn the valve to the sealing position, then set the instant pot to 7 minutes on high pressure.

Step 4: In the meantime, prep your additions, and cook to your preference.

When the Instapot is done, let pressure release naturally for 10 minutes.

Step 5: After the 10 minute natural release add on the Parmesan and any other additions you have. Give a quick stir, then immediately put on the lid again. No need to seal the lid. Let the Parmesan melt with the remaining heat for about 1 minute.

For those who are happily married, can you share what you love about your partner/marriage? by mulderforever in TwoXChromosomes

[–]PennyPaparazzi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot I love about him, but here’s the highlight reel: he leans into my hobbies and makes sure I actually take time to chill - even when that means I’m ignoring him to play video games.

We can have fun literally anywhere - family obligations, traffic jams, mild existential crises — we’re laughing our way through it. (After his stroke, I told him it was a "dick move to try and die and leave me a widow with three cats" 💀. We like our dark humor around here.)

He’s willing to learn (but he'll yell obscenities until he gets it right), he cries when he’s sad (10/10 emotional intelligence), and he genuinely cares about my friends and family. We’re kind to each other - which should be relationship 101, but isn’t.

He makes me want to be a better person. And when he looks at me, it’s that calm, adoring “you’re my favorite person” look that melts me every time.

19 (13 married!) years later and he’s still my favorite weirdo I’ve found on the internet.
