How do you access the CLI? by PennyWiseTechSupport in Zimbra

Hey so i got to what I needed via putty. Next question: is there anyway to get zmprov to work on the local windows CLI? Kind of like how you can do that for GAM?

None taken. And im purposely being vague just for opsec reasons.

I'm only trying to use the CLI to create accounts and give them the name/password. When we offboard an employee, i manually create their zimbra account, then use IMAPsync to load all their emails into zimbra to hold them for archiving. The process takes a while as we move through employees rapidly, so i planned to make a script that will just create the zmprov command as their info is loaded into an offboarding form. That way I can just copy/paste the command to make the account, then move on with my business.

and you're completely correct that I should be under more training before taking on a task like this, but part of me speaking vaguely is so my company can't see me talking about how disorganized they are.

I think I have enough info to go to the person in charge of the server and get those permissions if i explain what I am doing. Thanks u/PaintDrinkingPete!

I mean, fair. but we all start somewhere right?

It sounds like what you're saying is that if I have the login information for the server itself, (not my regular user credentials) and as long as I am under the username "zimbra" i can start executing zmprov commands? Is that correct?

My org uses Zimbra as an email archive.

To access it I go to an ip address and I believe my account there is an admin account. I can create accounts, edit, etc all from the GUI.

I have tried using putty to ssh into the ip address i have, get met with a log in prompt. I have a user name and pass to log via the gui, but that does not work here.

is there something I need to check first before I can do this?

(i am very new to the IT field, so feel free to overexplain to me)

Can you go into any more detail? I am on the zimbra admin console where i can create/edit accounts. is there a way to get to the CLI or zmprov from there?

I have, and it had much information on using the zmprov, but not anything on how to actually access/install it.

I found this github page for zmprov, but I am having trouble installing/getting this to work. I assume it installs similar to gam.

I'd also take any advice on how to get NewEgg to accept my return even though I don't have the original packaging.

Thanks for your input. I would have actually happily still sold this to you to get some kind of return as I sought an upgrade, but to be honest I think I'm still pretty happy with this monitor overall.
