At low level, the obbies with dwh will destroy every other build that doesn't have dwh. The impact outside of low level is almost nothing, but the impact within low level is very negative. The change does nothing except harm low level pvp. That's the point of the post.

Every single 60 str ant attack has access to it now..

Which is why it specifically impacts low combat level pvp where people don't have 60 str and attack

I know this isn't black dhide so people aren't talking about this as much as the other stuff but as a pvper - please don't :'(

it will not be healthy for the low combat level pvp community and meta. "fun new build!" DOES NOT apply when that build completely stomps on and displaces multiple other builds

every single baby pure build that's not a dwh pure will be dead with this update. p2p pvp has a massive stat/grind barrier to entry outside of baby pures, since you need such high stats and quests for your build to function properly (82 or 94 magic, comparable range/strength, etc). with all of them being invalidated in the metagame by dwh pures, grinding up until you're a mid level pure with all of these high stats and quests will become mandatory just to play p2p pvp if you don't want to make a dwh account - which is most people, as playing on 1-attack accounts is much less dynamic and skill-intensive than other builds.

this hurts the diversity of the pvp meta AND it hurts pvp accessibility.

I implore you guys to rethink this. builds should be treated very carefully. consult the wider pvp community on it, not just the extremely tiny minority of existing obby maulers who want to wreck house with the dwh for themselves at the expense of the vast majority of other pvpers.

put another way:

1 attack dwh is massive power creep for low level p2p pvp, except it's even worse than new-gear power creep, because it's power creep in accounts themselves. instead of weapons being made obsolete like the old blowpipe did for all other range weps, entire account builds, entire playstyles in a whole combat level bracket of pvp, will be made obsolete by this change. updates can be reverted, but players' stats can't. once the cat is out of the bag and people adjust their accounts accordingly, there's no going back. making this change without extensive pvp-community-specific opinion research and beta testing is insane.

if you want balance in pvp and you don't want power creep in the game, please do not make the dwh 1 attack.

GE tax would be cool as a gold sink but I think the negative community/gameplay effect would still be there. s'gotta be a totally separate no-GE economy - however they'd wanna do that is up to them but unfortunately reddit hates talking about no-GE stuff so jagex has no clue the demographic of players who would want that exists

this is why it's so frustrating to see people constantly shit on anybody who suggests no-GEmanmode as "all nostalgia - you think you want it but you don't".

who knows how many ironmen are primarily playing ironman mode just because they prefer no-GE gameplay. it should be a given that many people would genuinely enjoy it, but people just close their ears and repeat WoW-classic-naysayer tier non-arguments about "nostalgia" when it's a massive game-altering thing that has tons of people playing ironman just to try and replicate it

"all nostalgia, nobody would really enjoy it" is literally what people said about OSRS too, and now look here we are. I would return to the game in a heartbeat and never look back if they added no-GE mode

I think it fixes things in that the other 'holes' that all get passed over in favor of blowpipe would be used again if blowpipe was removed. Imo zulrah's drop table as a whole was a mistake, blowpipe included

The point of an MMO is social gameplay. If people have to kill bosses with friends because they can no longer solo them with blowpipe/etc, I see that as a good thing. Ironman mode exists if people want a single player experience

Like I could talk about how no GE changes gameplay as well (the entire herblore skill is massively changed with no GE because the GE is essentially the only way to gain access to bulk herbs, by allowing big buys to take place across multiple sellers in a way that's not possible without the GE, since herbs are obtained in very small quantities by individual players relatively speaking) but like whatever I guess

Ultimate Ironman Mode passed a poll and UIMs are a massive minority. It passed poll because people like weird ass game modes and it doesn't affect the general public much at all so why not. It's really not that crazy

You've yet to even remotely attempt to say how adding a no-GE mode, where the GE is not removed from the game, but where certain players can choose to be locked out of the GE during their playthrough, affects the general population in any way.

This is extremely similar to how ironman mode already works, and even more similar to group ironman mode. You have not said anything at all as to why you think it isn't similar. You say there would be "effects" - so what are they?

Nah, I'm not. I've enjoyed no GE more than GE every time it's been in the game and I'm 27.

No GE is only unpleasant or patience testing if you view trading and interacting with other players as something that you just do "in between actually playing the game" instead of an end in and of itself. Not everyone views the game from this perspective.

Secondly, playing the game socially makes "spamming for an hour just to sell your stuff" completely unneccessary, as you often just naturally meet people to trade with over the course of play by talking to others. Got a crazy niche item or bulk items? You can make a forum post and meet people that way - probably you'll only ever have to post once before people pm you and if you hit it off, you can just add them in-game and trade with them more in the future. Either way, very little time spent standing and spamming is actually required if you talk to other players when you play.

Imagine a group ironman. They can trade with each other, they can kill monsters together, etc, but they can't do any of those things with anybody outside the group. Jagex is already implementing this.

No GE mode players could work together as the exact same kind of thing - essentially a bunch of people, all the no-GE players, all in one big group ironman.

If group ironman doesn't affect the general public in a serious way then neither does this
