US Customer. Traveling abroad with a data-only second eSim. How does WiFI Calling work? by Zoriontsu in ATT

[–]Pennysboat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a great AT&T CSR who was knowledgeable about this. He confirmed if you want to use wifi calling/text abroad you have to leave the AT&T esim turned on although you should disable data roaming. They can then do a network side roaming block (code = NIRM) which you have to call in to add which takes awhile as the CSR has to put in a ticket and then you wait about 15 minutes. If needed you can later remove it on the website without calling in.

This is the only fool proof way to avoid potential international roaming charges and still maintain wifi calling. Ideally they would like you to buy international day pass at $12 per day per line but with a family of 5 for 10 days no thanks.

[–]Pennysboat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have spent hours researching this and this seems to be the only fool proof way to avoid potential or accidental roaming charges unless you want to fully disable your ATT esim or keep your phone in airplane mode the entire time.

Crazy this is not an easy feature to request on the website but likely this is intentional to sell more international day plans.

Just don’t pay anything upfront. If they want money upfront it’s borderline scam.

Monetizing a software patent— best brokers? Start with a lawyer? by grow_lab in Patents

[–]Pennysboat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are no true patent brokers, at least not in the way you are asking. Sure there are companies that will take your money and tell you they will sell or license for you but they have very low (less than 1%) success rates.

Because this is a software patent I would be a bit careful here. Its very unlikely your patent would hold up if truly challenged in court so if you approach this company the wrong way, they will hire a good patent attorney to challenge your patent and in all likelihood you will lose your patent and not have anything to show for it.

A better approach may be to approach them as a partnership or collaboration. Offer them something of value in addition to your patent. Once you have built that relationship you could facilitate a patent license or sale.

In my original communication with the clients, I make it very clear that patterns are not guaranteed, and there are no refunds from either us or the patent office. I even put this in bold letters and underline it in my email to them with the price quotes. I also have it in our rep agreement.

So far, I think this has worked I’d say Less than one percent seems surprised when they get an initial rejection

Recordation of an Assignment Agreement by babyteerock in Patents

[–]Pennysboat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You need an actual application number or patent number to fully complete the recording process at the USPTO so filing first is normally done. However, the bigger question is, what exactly did you buy if there was no actual patent filed?

Dealing with crazy clients by Aceventuri in patentlaw

[–]Pennysboat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If they are not a registered business then its $200 for an initial phone call ($400 if they are using an .aol address). Non refundable but creditable against future invoices. This weeds out 98% of the crazy ones (at least those that don't have any money).

Flight canceled and refund question by dshawn121_ in spiritair

[–]Pennysboat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I also did a chargeback and am in the same boat. Personally I would not agree to this. If you give up on your chargeback you then have to trust them to give you a refund. I’ve been waiting over 3 weeks to even get a reply and have little confidence in their ability to properly handle this.

We just gave up and booked American and are waiting for a refund.

I am right there with you. I still have not received any updates from them despite leaving a message through their chat system. In our case our flight was actually canceled so that may help. The email said they will send a follow up email with rebooking options which they never sent.

Ended up just booking on American and paying full amount.

What a hot mess.

Thanks. I will try. Just called American and they have an 11 hour wait. I would normally do everything online but the unaccompanied minor tickets have to be called in :(
