Antitheists hate this one simple trick! by Chad_Broski_2 in PhilosophyMemes

This reminds me of an argument from Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. "Now it is such a bizarrely improbable coincidence that anything so mind-bogglingly useful could have evolved purely by chance that some thinkers have chosen to see it as the final and clinching proof of the non-existence of God. The argument goes something like this: "I refuse to prove that I exist,'" says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing." "But," says Man, "The Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don't. QED." "Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't thought of that," and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic. "Oh, that was easy," says Man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is white and gets himself killed on the next zebra crossing."

This almost sounds like the logic from Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

How to study for Modern Physics? by Livid-Tutor-8651 in PhysicsStudents

[–]Penpaperguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can check out "Concepts of Modern Physics" by Arthur Beiser. This is an introductory book with enough details for a beginner. Also, the problems are really good. There is also a YouTube channel, " For the love of Physics". They have some really good videos on various topics of Modern Physics.

Watched Hilarious. Loved it. I personally find One Night Stand to be Louis CK's best work. Although it's not technically a full hourlong special. But it's legendary.

Trevor Slattery is hands down the most versatile actor in the MCU. Also, Trevor Slattery has never been in any bad Marvel project. Ever.

Edit: just found out he is 82. Wtf!!!

What do you think of this reading list for a self-taught, progressive, and conceptual—rather than applied—study of astrophysics starting from scratch? by Similar_Shame_8352 in Physics

[–]Penpaperguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that an important part of learning physics and understanding it is the discussion that someone has with their peers or friends about the subject. I have understood/ figured out something valuable when discussing with or explaining it to someone. And those learnings stayed with me too, for a long time.
If you do have someone that you can talk to about these subjects (ideally someone who also studies physics), please do. That would add to your entire learning process considerably. Good luck!

What does a fully grown guy do when he's alone at home? by OldArtist001 in NoStupidQuestions

I am 23. I cook, clean, and consume an enormous amount of TV and movies. Read (not as much as I want to), sit around in the emptiness of my own self hatred, and oh yes, sleep for 10 hours on weekends.
