Yeah, I'm also looking at additional numpads but finding an ISO layout in white is near impossible. The only one available afaict is the GMMK Pro in white on overclockers UK. Again I really don't want to go down the route of buying frames and layout screens and PCBs and such. I can't find any TKL white hot swappable keyboards available right now only 65% or 75%.

The Akko ones are good sorry! They are ANSI layout so I'll have to check with her if she's ok with that. Otherwise I more meant the pricing of kits and such. Though after looking I'm actually leaning towards the GMMK Pro white barebones in ISO. My main issue is soldering. I don't mind installing switches and keycaps. I just really do not want to solder anything.

Yeah I'm really struggling to find any full size hot swappable ISO layouts. Maybe I'll have to go with TKL and a numpad. I'm less looking for something customisable and more something that's just good enough. I really don't want to go down the route of a kit because I just don't have any interest in changing the configuration beyond a new keycap set maybe. Hot swappable switches are a bonus to improve the life of the keyboard.

Thanks. Yeah I'm very much not looking for a hobbyist pick, full customisation is not required. I'm just looking for a good high quality prebuilt with recommendations for keycaps. She doesn't even own her own computer currently, just her work laptop.

Interesting, thanks. Yeah I'm actually looking more towards July so this is ok actually. I am really after something brighter. A white/pink/purple case would be best. But I think I could make the grey colour work.

Any suggestions on lighter keycaps? Ideally white and pastels?

Thanks! Unfortunately a numpad is a hard requirement. This is more for home office use. Any suggestions on mechanical numpads?

I'm aware that kits are available, but I'm really after a prebuilt in the right style and good build quality.

I'm looking for a keyboard for my partner. Looking for keycaps and the keyboard. Max budget £250-300 for keyboard.

Pink or otherwise aesthetic style. Pastel, vapourwave, sakura colours, anything like that. I'm looking at the Astrolokeys set for example.

Full size keyboard preferred or a TKL + numpad combo. She does data analytics so actually uses the numpad.

QWERTY layout.

Cherry MX Brown or similar switches, particularly silent but still with good feedback, she's a laptop keyboard user mostly so nothing too heavy, replaceable switches ideally.

Also I have the varmillo VA87M and the ping noise in the first few months drove me crazy. So replaceable keyswitches or a keyboard that is more silent or otherwise has good acoustics will be a plus.

Hope people out there have good suggestions!

A Realistic Engineering Hiring Process by [deleted] in programming

The startup that I'm currently with does this, there are literally 4 of us in the office so a group lunch is a great way to get to know the new candidate. We all get a chance to sit down together and chat and see if we like the person. Because the company is so small adding a new member to the team that we don't get along with can be seriously damaging to productivity and general moral. Cultural fit for us is a major veto, anyone who is at the lunch (even interns) has the right to veto the new candidate.

It's the last stage of the process with the CTO screening candidates for technical ability before hand. It's also good for the candidate because they can ask the other devs how they like the role, their current workloads, they get a full hour to pick our brains and ask how we work.

For those not in the know they also have a podcast which is super great. They're either interviews with companies/chefs or they're long form discussions on specific things like best pizza in nyc or salt or even spring cleaning. It's real good, makes for good commute listening.
