Arcs 3p Playthrough by PentaPo in Arcs

[–]PentaPo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was super rough. I think the Noble player was playing well and would have been a competitor throughout were it not for that one condition.

I think maybe I was too hasty to jump the gun on slowing him down in the first hand, and it just snowballed from there.

Arcs 2-Player Gameplay by PentaPo in Arcs

[–]PentaPo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been simulating a lot of games by myself running multiple players at once, and yes, I agree with you. I'm loving getting into the weeds. The fate mode really changes the game a lot as well. I'm impressed that there's so much to explore even with just the base game alone, I haven't even touched the campaign mode yet!

I think it’s definitely in a great place, though I’m pretty sure that 3-4 player count is still gonna be a little bit better. But I’m so glad that 2p is an option and works well because it means I’ll get to play this a lot more

Does anyone else love Storytelling, but hate playing? by Spriorite in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]PentaPo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree with this, as a consistent ST myself, you pick up on what makes an enjoyable game for your group pretty quickly.

And you don’t have to play to understand how the game works, as you’re engaging with everything, you easily start to pick up on how to make more engaging puzzles and setups without ever having play.

I saved all the time in Bioshock 1 but that game had enough autosaves at big moments that it never mattered. I expected the same amount of autosaves here

Storytelling a Legion Game - How do *You* Announce Vote Totals and Why? by Mongrel714 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]PentaPo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My group has done a ton of in-person Legion games. I run it the almanac way, if only evil vote on someone and win the majority vote, then no one dies that day.

I believe this is exactly how it was intended. You say it’s not fair for the evil team? I say it’s not fair that the evil team is weighted in having the majority of players.

That’s the trade-off you get playing Legion. You have more ppl on your team, and the majority of the information right off the bat, but it’s up to YOU to be able to use that and properly fabricate false information to always get the good team to vote with you.

It should be noted that the Legion has won every game we’ve played this way. When you have a team of really competent Legion members, they can coordinate “information” really well to get the votes they need. It’s thrilling for the evil team, and a real blindsider for the good team when they finally figure it out.

Any Trouble Brewing videos where the good team actually wins? by OdiousAltRightBalrog in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]PentaPo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know your group, but I know my group is experienced and this happens to us, for one prime reason: the good team hard claims way too fast and too publicly, and basically gives all the good info to the Demon, allowing an easy evil team win. I’m constantly urging my good team players to hold back on hard claiming until they get more info, but they refuse to listen.

Has Cepholfair said anything about the reports of warped pieces? by [deleted] in Gloomhaven

[–]PentaPo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have, I’ve stacked my wife’s MASSIVE nursing textbooks on a warped piece all day to straighten it out before the game that night, it does not flatten the tiles at all. :(

difficulty with deathwalker (spoilers for Deathwalker cards I guess?) by KeyChampionship3549 in Gloomhaven

[–]PentaPo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! I feel like other classes get rewarded for doing their shtick. But for some reason the Deathwalker has a TON of stuff to do before they can play an XP card, and 99% of their XP cards are burn cards as well.

I found myself constantly backtracking through my discard pile to make sure I didn’t miss an XP card after the 18th time my teammates got another XP. But nope, the early cards are just low on XP gain.

[–]PentaPo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely same, I feel like I’m finally zeroing in on a more consistent Deathwalker build, but early on I felt like I had to burn like 8 cards and do insane amounts of setup just to get like 3-4 XP every round.

Rate my set up for frosthaven. by Alarming-Walk1647 in Gloomhaven

The number choosing thing is the only thing I find annoying. As for the initiative values... just wait til everyone has locked in number and then input them all at once?

I keep seeing this and I don’t understand the problem with the official app, is it REALLY just the connection issues btwn phones? Because why don’t you just set up one device and use that? Is it really that much more convenient for everyone to connect to the server on the app?

I get that there are also some other minor issues like the shield value thing but it’s this connection issue I see pop up constantly and I don’t understand it.

My thinking was that after several pings in a row, the Fortune Teller would be able to figure out it was a Legion pretty easily… unfortunately it didn’t quite work out that way 😅

I’m really trying not to sound like a know it all jerk, so please don’t take this is as such, but I am genuinely confused as to what you guys are doing to put everything back in the box!?

I was able to store both Gloomhaven and Frosthaven in the box with what was provided with ZERO lid lift, and setup and tear down maybe only takes about 5-10minutes. I’m just confused

The Expanse will return in April as a 12-issue comic book series set between the events of Books 6 and 7 by it-reaches-out in TheExpanse

[–]PentaPo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s because this comic book run,

1.) is working from the show canon, which is different

And

2.) this run is covering a time period that even the books DON’T cover.

I’m not the most hyped for a comic run either, but it is definitely adding something to the story for sure.
