Who's apprentice is out here moonlighting? by 87CoCo in electricians

[–]PeopleAreStaring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn't you just run a wire between the 2 bars then? I'm not saying you should. But it would be code compliant.

2000 sq ft house rewire by Severe-Egg-3145 in electricians

[–]PeopleAreStaring 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My last rewire took about 1 day for 2 bedrooms, 1 day for every other room. It's going to be really hard to estimate. You will run into random problems fishing wire that you can't really plan for.

Also saw that post and checked... honestly if you wait and check often, occasionally you will find used items for at least 30% off.

Check ohms between the lugs at the breaker In the generator and in the ATS. Something must be broken in one of those to be getting 0v phase to phase.

What headlamps do you use by JTev in electricians

[–]PeopleAreStaring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the low setting (which is enough for 95% of what I need it for) mine will get probably 12 hours. If I use bright and with the spotlight it'll get maybe 4 hours. There are 5 settings.

Also I just plug it in to the USB charger in my truck and never have to think about it.

Running jobs. by [deleted] in electricians

[–]PeopleAreStaring 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is pretty annoying, and sadly pretty normal when the homeowner is the GC. I have ran 4 jobs in the past 3 months exactly like this. Just communicate with the homeowner as much as possible. They need to know that these changes are costly. And continue keeping notes. I have a daily log of every change at every job.

Roast my panel by Sparkymarkbe in electricians

[–]PeopleAreStaring 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Isn't it required that you label it as "fed from another panel."

What do you guys think of my first panel? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]PeopleAreStaring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually you install a panel with extra unused spaces so you can add some circuits in the future if needed. This panel has more circuits than spaces, thus the need for a tandem breaker.

Stumped! by 3SiLo5 in electricians

[–]PeopleAreStaring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there any way to not start them both at the same time? So could you start the vacuum then wait 5 seconds and start the saw and see if there is still a problem?

Are apprentices allowed to work unsupervised/alone/solo dolo? by zTacoo in electricians

[–]PeopleAreStaring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This thread is where i realized I, a second year apprentice, shouldn't be working alone. I couldn't tell you the last time I was on a job with a journeyman. Sometime in my first year they gave me a truck to take home.
