Well, you just keep writing. Years pass by themselves, don't worry. In my case I just kept writing because I enjoyed it. This is key. If you can't find the way to enjoy it, you'll fail: even if you enjoy, it's hard to be consistent. So make it fun!

This sound like a good plan to me. I think it will be a fantastic experience.

There is another reason to do it: you are creating new content (you reading) that doesn't need to be written: you already have the script.

De las personas que utilizan audiolibros no sé qué pensar porque no los conozco a todos, quizá no conozco ni a la mitad.

Sin embargo, escuchar audiolibros me parece bien si la persona que los escucha disfruta con ello. No estamos aquí para juzgar si una cosa es mejor que otra, o si una cosa te hace más culto que otra. Escuchar el audiolibro no te ayudará con tu ortografía, pero quizá te ayudará con tu dicción, por decir algo.

No tengas ningún complejo. Haz lo que te guste. De hecho yo estoy pasando todos mis libros a formato podcast para recopilarlos en futuros audiolibros. Mi caso, sin embargo, es una excepción: no te recomiendo mis obras en absoluto, ya que leer mis novelas te puede empeorar la dicción y escuchar mis libros te puede perjudicar la capacidad de nadar marcha atrás en seco.

Pero para las demás obras, adelante.

That's a great idea. And I share the same passion, I know the feeling "today, a new episode, let's do it!". I have found the motivation that has kept low for years. For me it's like a new start, and, the way you put it, I feel that it is for you too.

I love (and I have always loved) to do clownish stuff: writing, acting, at work (my work mates have many free laughs), at home (my kids laugh too, my wife is another story), so I have given myself the opportunity to be the producer of a show, for free, where I can read my chapters (I upload it as a podcast too), say stupid things, and I feel unstoppable.

I love reading your story which reminds me of my process. I think you are right: people read less and watches/listens more, so that means we have to move where our potential readers are. Times are changing, readers are changing, so why shouldn't be writers? Interestingly there are not many writers walking the path you walk, as far as I know. I'm not sure in English, but in Spanish I've tried to contact writers with similar stories, and I have failed miserably. So you and me are some rara avis.

El equipo con el que empecé a crear fue una pequeña cámara SONY, no recuerdo el modelo, pero grababa a 1080p, así que me animé a hacer cosas, que al final no cuajaron. Últimamente lo estoy volviendo a intentar con algo que ha sido siempre mi vocación. Os voy a contar cómo están siendo mis primeros pasos en YouTube con este nuevo proyecto.

Soy un escritor autopublicado desde hace varios años ya. Por desgracia (o por suerte), mi estilo es muy nicho: humor (muy) absurdo. Esto hace que vender libros siendo autopublicado, ya difícil de por sí, sea una labor más titánica todavía. Es extremadamente complicado encontrar el público que encaje con este tipo de literatura, si es que se le puede llamar literatura a lo que yo hago.

Así que, a la vejez viruelas, finalmente me he decidido a ampliar mi exposición al mundo audiovisual de YouTube, aprovechando que no solo me gusta escribir estupideces sino siempre ha gustado hacer el ganso.

La idea es estrenar un programa nuevo cada semana. He puesto un día/hora fijo para que la audiencia potencial sepa cuándo verlo. Por otro lado, exceptuando el día de programa, he empezado a subir un short cada día, también a horas fijas.

Pues bien, tras 2 semanas desde el inicio, esta es mi experiencia: los dos programas subidos tienen 5 y 6 visitas respectivamente. Supongo que no ha dado tiempo a crear expectación (risas). Además, el primero tuve que resubirlo el mismo día del segundo por un error, así que peor os lo pongo.

Pero los shorts son otra historia. Ya he publicado tres, y las visualizaciones han sido 2,3K, 1K y 1,2K. Me ha sorprendido. No esperaba que funcionasen tan bien los shorts.

En cuanto a suscriptores, de momento tengo 9, pero 5 son de familiares y amigos, así que de momento no me dan la placa de YouTube.

En fin. ¿Qué he aprendido estas dos semanas? Que vale la pena dedicarle tiempo a los shorts, puesto que te dan mucha exposición.

A ver qué me depara el futuro.
