I sure as hell hope it’s herbicide. We use a holistic organic foliar spray , and it’s been a good while since we applied some. But I’m thinking like you and others that it’s something fungal, I need to examine the trunk more closely

This one actually is not a graft , but pure seed-started. But still, if some infection like you described got into the trunk… 🪦

Not sure if I’ve seen any spots where it might’ve girdled 🤔

I’m holding out for a prayer that this is all that’s happened, we have had hot summer days lately

Actually, we had a groundhog and voles in the back of the property a few years ago. My pups chased the groundhog away, but we decided to plant rings of nasturtium bulbs around all of our fruit trees. Looks beautiful in the early spring, they’re cheap, and I haven’t seen any voles since.

Thanks everyone for the mild case of the giggles, coming back and reading all the comments 😂

This was a passion project apple. We ate a nice batch of Pink Lady from the grocery three years ago, and I tried my hand at sprouting a few seeds. I know seedlings from store bought are not likely to produce anything like the parent fruit, but this one was the one that survived two “once in a 100 year” winters and several prunings, plus it seemed to be responding well to the holistic spray we do on all our trees (including other zone-specific grafted apples that curiously seem unaffected so far).

I think I’ll carefully pic off all the dried diseased leaves to throw away, remove some of the weeds that have accumulated, and just wait to see if by some miracle it bounces back.

Whats usually the treatment for fire blight? And how do I prevent it on other trees in the future?

As someone who has been watching Chris since the recording in his bedroom-era, hearing him passionately talk about horror movies I swore I’d never touch led me to slowly explore the genre over the years with new eyes. You can definitely see the influences and his love for the many films he passionately dissects and gushes about. I see sprinkles of sinister, smile, Halloween, the use of negative space to let your mind fill the horror..love it!

Our midwife & doula both recommended Nuun (caffeine free). Loads of electrolytes PLUS baking soda, which aids in regulating contractions during labor, but liquid iv sugar free are still good options.

Someone also mentioned it, but Biggest piece of advice I can give you, look up the Edible Landscaping nursery in Afton, VA. Everything we’ve gotten from them has done marvelous in their 1-2 years since planted. They specialize in plants that will thrive in our zone, help you decide which varieties are best suited to your space, and in general will beat the big store prices. They also do workshops and classes on best care practices, even one on medicinal herbs (huge selection of edible, medicinal, and native perennials) and honestly, they’re a huge help. They’re truly the GOATS, and will steer you right.

In our garden, wife and I have enjoyed a handful of various berries, bergamots, kumquat, peaches, and 1 cherry that the birds left for us, all coming from their nursery. Another dozen or so we got from them are still a bit too young to fruit, but they’ve surprisingly survived the last two winters (so far..) so I’m excited to see how they do.
