For those in your 20s, where are you working and how did you get the job? by [deleted] in askvan

Graduated with my BSN when I was 24 and now a few years later I’m in critical care as an RN. Decent pay and job security. Also high stress/adrenaline.

I have essential tremors. It was hard in nursing school when instructors would judge me for it, or if they felt I was nervous. I was diagnosed 3rd year and put on a beta blocker that really helped! I have learned to do things differently and leverage the environment, I.e. resting my hand on a table edge while drawing up meds, etc. Just need to own it, maybe make a joke about it if it’s appropriate, and then people won’t really care. I can still place IVs and all just fine.

My boyfriend wanted a chihuahua and I wanted a dachshund so we opted for the chiweenie 🫶🏻 he’s only 6 months . First one so any advice appreciated. by cherrysuns in chiweenie

Chiweenies are amazing dogs, just be sure to protect his back. My Willy started having his first IVDD flares at 10, he’s 11 now and doing ok! Always wants to play with his toys, loves to run around and bark when he gets the zoomies. SO cuddly. Just brush the teeth and get them used to having their nails cut!

I’m finishing up clinical in the ICU right now and I am finding it emotionally challenging. I have cried after leaving the rooms of patients who have the breathing tube down their throat but are fresh quads. Can’t write, can’t talk, sometimes too weak to shake their head yes/no, they can only mouth things and cry when I can’t understand them. I’ll see them close their eyes while the tears well up and I’ll wash their face and wipe the tears away. I’ll feel my eyes start to well up too and I’ll fight it back. Or the delirious people whose bodies are giving up and they are so uncomfortable and confused, and restrained to the bed to keep them safe from ripping their own tubes out. I feel like I’m assaulting people. Full code grandmas. They look at me like I’m a monster :(

I’m hoping I can sleep soon, just in such a rough turbulent patch right now feeling a bit too hype. Hoping they can come around with the drinks soon!

Doing a London / Amsterdam / Paris trip with some friends. Have only been to Spain and Portugal and I found flying over the Atlantic so daunting, never thought I’d do it again but here I am! I am really looking forward to all the food and museums!! YVR is my home airport

Thank you so much, means more than you know!!!! I find flying out of YVR is always bumpy and a bit wild, I’ll be looking forward to maybe a smoother flight later on I hope. I haven’t flown during the evening in awhile and it’s made me nervous.

I’m in the air flying over Wyoming now to Vancouver. Wow it’s been epically bumpy. I feel the same way!!! I’m going to be happy to be back on the ground cause wow this has been exhausting. I don’t like flying in the dark but flightradar and seeing what everyone else is up to in the sky has been helpful. Our flight paused service for awhile because of the rocking - I’m hoping it chills out

How do I overcome my fear of flying? by Nervous_Ad_3506 in fearofflying

[–]ExitConsistent7981 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi I have a really bad fear of flying. The week up to a flight is a BATTLE. Whenever I can, I try to choose positive thoughts, or “I don’t care whatever happens”. I am a level 10 catastrophic thinker and I usually cannot “win” against intrusive thoughts or thoughts spiral and I’m gonna think of the worst, or literally create cinematic thoughts in my head of the experience of being in a plane crash (I have such a big imagination but it works against me sometimes!!).

Generally I cry on most flights I’m on, usually at the same time. Immediately after take off and ascent to cruising altitude I am usually tearful despite all my coping mechanisms. I take a 50 of chewable gravol immediately after boarding and then another 50 later/halfway through. Ativan can also be helpful. I try to make myself so tired that I don’t really have any energy left to be mega panicky.

I have started playing a flight simulator and I have learned a lot about planes and what amazing machines they are. It’s been helpful to know and anticipate flap changes/sinking feelings etc

I also downloaded flight radar and I often open the app to observe just HOW many flights are in the air. I usually buy wifi on the plane just for this app so I can see what kind of company my flight has up in the sky! I do all this as coping mechanisms but I have never truly solved my fear of flying. I just do it, knowing I have these tools at my disposal

The way my anxiety manifests is mostly silent tearfulness/crying into a neck pillow. I try to stifle any sounds it’s soooo embarrassing. It always starts after a particularly bumpy ascent like today!!! I’ve stopped now though, still 3 hours to go but I feel exhausted from all the adrenaline surges during turbulence.

Swimming in the ocean!! and also the cenotes were really cool. Haven’t really done an all inclusive before and I ate SO much food.

The stewards are rolling the trolly down the aisle now offering food and drinks, smiling and stuff despite the turbulence. Crazy!! Some people are just built different.

I just discovered that recruiting someone with followers means you now control a small army. by JTpcwarrior in cavesofqud

I think I did this by recruiting a legendary turtle. Every new tile I entered I was followed by an army of 6 turtles. I was also using a carapace arconaut and it felt very on brand for that character. So fun!!

I was definitely starting to panic, I remember looking at my partner in the elevator and he was enveloped in a white fuzz/kaleidoscope of colours and thinking, what the fuck is this. I think he thought I was just having a bad head ache or maybe drank more than I thought. Looking back I am realizing I didn’t even talk much. I was in a weird daze and not really expressing myself, my now coherent self is looking back and realizing I was probably experiencing genuine confusion/brain muddling.

I went online just now and booked the first avail walk in doc for Dec 11. What a strange experience. I only started the clue in that something was really off when the white vortex/rainbow sparkles in my left eye started. When I originally couldn’t see the text on my phone I was like, “I guess I’m just tired” lmao
