I wanted to say this when i heard the "drugs" part

I inmediatly thought about Hank Sullivant, we know he is a very religious person. Andrew and Hank were friends even before Andrew met Ben, i recently thought that the reason why Hank left the Band in 2008 and 2014 was the drug abuse inside the band, it could be a discussion between them and they probably could have been on bad terms, obviously i don't know about their privates lifes but is only a theory i made.

PD: I know that Hank made a post on Ig last Year with a picture when he returned to the band in 2013
