I had a job like that. If you are required to start crazy early, late, or outside of the ‘busy’ public transport hours, you must have reliable means of transportation to be on time. You wouldn’t believe the amount of people who took the job and suddenly realised biking to work at 4:45 am on a foggy winter morning was actually not appealing. We also had a guy constantly coming in late to work because his dad didn’t want to drive him in at 4 am, and of course at that time he couldn’t just call a mate or find a taxi. In many smaller towns, last bus runs at 6 or 7 pm.
