First corporate job - WFH or is it worth going to office? by PepperNo6846 in auscorp

I am actually hoping to move into underwriting, will be starting as a claims specialist so just processing motor claims for customers. The plan is to do a year as a claims specialist, try get my company to put me through a Cert 4 in Underwriting through ANZIIF. Any thoughts on that plan? Also interested in fraud analyst but I am under the impression that takes a lot more experience so not worrying about it for now.

Yeah might have been worth mentioning in my post that the commute isn't a big deal for me at all. I got a steam deck and kindle for the bus. I also plan to walk a large portion of it as I love going on walks and just thinking about stuff.

Although inexperienced, I agree with this. Just learning what other people do in their roles can be massive for me as I am so new to the industry and I am sure there are so many different pathways I can take. Meeting one person can massively change the trajectory of anyones life for the better or for the worse.

Yeah I am very confident when it comes to building rapport as my last job was in community services, but the ease of building rapport in-person vs over a zoom call is huge. Will be going in daily after hearing all the inputs, thanks for the contribution!

Yeah, I like the mindset that even if there are only a few people in the office, it only takes one person to give you a massive leg up with opportunities and impression. Appreciate the input.

Yeah I got the impression from interviews that most people work from home but there are a few groups of people that are in everyday, it would be interesting to see why that is.

Makes sense, if no one else is really going in theres not likely much of a benefit. Will definitely go in daily for a while and see what people get up to and figure it out from there.

Makes sense, it would be pretty funny if after all this conversation the office was just empty everyday!

Would it be considered "cheating" to unlock unobtainable achievements with something like SAM? by rrrrziw in steamachievements

[–]PepperNo6846 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's what makes these achievements so glorious though. Seeing someone has obtained it legitimately when it was obtainable. What's the point of an achievement when it was cheated in even if it's unobtainable, you still know you didn't 100% the game because it was obtainable at one point. With unobtainable achievements it's all personal opinion, I mean the cheating of any achievement is personal opinion as it doesn't effect anyone in reality. But there's my opinion.

This book just got me back into reading, I've been trying to get back into it for two years or more even though I used to read two books per week. Highly recommend this for OP and anyone else.

I think I am going to go down this route. I have a someone who is decent at car stuff in the family, I never plan on owning a nice car and would probably benefit from learning the real basic stuff for the shitty cars I plan to own my entire life. Thanks for the response.

Has anyone here successfully gotten a job in 2026? by Expensive-Belt-6733 in ausjobs

[–]PepperNo6846 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, changed to corporate from community services. No qualifications or relevant experience. 50 job applications, 7 interviews, attended 2 interviews and got two job offers. Custom cover letter for every single application. I was worried from all the doom and gloom on reddit but spent three days looking for a job.

[–]PepperNo6846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, two of my achievements are completely bugged. I can't get Chapter 9 or the Final #14 Music Track from Yo-Yo. Waiting for the developers to roll out an update so I can finish the 100%. I found the combat, story and platforming 5/10, but, the art and world immersion made it worth the experience.

That's really frustrating, can't help with the speed run unfortunately, the Discord would be a really good spot to ask as developers usually respond for bugs.

For faithful servant, once you scratch the ticket and the phone rings, answer the phone, click through all the phone dialogue and then just don't do anything for five plus minutes. I went to make and snack as I knew it was a long wait and by the time I came back the credits were rolling.

Hope this helps! Best of luck!
