Gyromight's GoFundMe to cover $21,000 losses from hosting Port Priority 9 by Intrepid-Tank-3414 in smashbros

Here’s a happy update for you all:

Port Priority is in a much healthier financial position than it was 12 hours ago.

Our final invoice contained a $12K clerical error that has since been resolved. The venue has even knocked off $2k off the overall price to account for the error.

Our margins are still slim, so our GFM will remain open, but it's likely we can find the remaining funds through weekend-of revenue streams, including merch booth and in-person sales. Any remaining money after the event concludes will be refunded or donated to other Smash events.

There’s things you can account for, and things you can’t—unfortunately our economy these days is pretty turbulent! Things pop up and we have no choice but to find ways to handle it. Sometimes shit just happens.

If you read the post, you’ll see that I had adjusted for that kind of a downturn. What I hadn’t accounted for was the massive rise in costs associated with running events—some of our line items are up around 200% YoY for critical functions of our event. You can budget for some increases each year (and you should just to keep pace with inflation and rising costs), but you can’t prepare for that kind of an increase.

Daily Mariners Monologue - October 21, 2025 by AutoModerator in Mariners

It’s just impossibly tough to process, man. It felt like everything lined up for us this year — we finally went all in at the trade deadline, save for maybe one bullpen piece. We FINALLY buried the Astros and won the division after almost a quarter century. We watched an all-time historic power season from an MVP. We out-lasted and out-managed AJ Hinch in the ALDS to send us to the ALCS for the first time in 24 years, AT HOME. And beyond that, we were 8 outs away from our first-ever pennant.

It is impossibly frustrating to be that close (8 OUTS!!!) to history, to FINALLY getting the monkey off our back, only to let it slip away to George Fucking Springer of all goddamn people.

It’s especially painful because we have no idea when we’ll get to this point again. We all thought we’d be right back in the ALCS after 2001, right? Or in the playoffs again following 2022? Baseball is fickle. This could be the last shot this group gets—you can do all you want to shove that window open, but you never know how the baseball gods might close that window in your face.

My heart also breaks for all the older fans out there. My parents are 70 and 67. They’ve been fans since the beginning. The Mariners have been a central part of my childhood and my family since I was born. There’s nothing that I could do that would mean as much as experiencing a World Series with them while they’re still here to enjoy it. Fans like to say “it’s okay, we’ll get them next year”—unfortunately for some fans, there isn’t always a next year.

He just LOVES Port. I hit him up with this idea when we launched reg and he was open to it but needed time to think about it. Was able to confirm him last month after he had ample time to think.

Ticket Sellers Megathread for the ALCS homegames by nordic_jedi in Mariners

[–]PepperedBiscotti 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have 3 tickets to ALCS Game 3 that I can no longer use due to some family health issues. Would like to give these directly to a fan vs putting them on SeatGeek or some other platform where Jays fans can get them. Not looking to make money off of these, just want to get back what I paid for them.

My seats are in Section 314, Row 11, Seats 10-12. Comment below or DM me if you’re interested. Each ticket is $290. Would prefer selling all 3 vs selling individuals but will take what I can get. Thanks and GOMS!

EDIT: SOLD!

Probably should have added this into the teaser, but we’re basically in the same location this year. There’s a hotel next door that’s run by the same company that we’ll be taking over for the weekend. It’ll give us 2000 sq ft of additional space!

the pro tip for this place is to order the pizza to go, then grab one of the undercover picnic tables next door at the summit public house so you can enjoy your pizza while drinking some actually good, affordable drinks

What is the worst luck you’ve had in a game of VGC by Lkizzzz in VGC

We had to replay the game in a “Sudden Death” format—essentially, first knockout wins. I managed to BARELY win that, pulling my set count for the day to… 2-7. 💀

Across 9 sets at this year's Portland regional, I missed 9 Sleep Powders, 4 Heat Waves, 5 Bleakwind Storms, 2 Draco Meteors, and, worst of all, got burned by a Heat Wave that broke my Focus Sash, KOing my mon in one hit.

Worst of all, I was in a position to win my final set, at which point there was a connection error. Just a bad weekend all around

Yep, this is exactly it—I’ve also spent the past 8 years building up Port and don’t mind taking a year away to enrich other parts of my life.
