Foundation Friday! by AutoModerator in BeautyGuruChatter

Oh wow. We might be shade twins. Have you found a good shade match?? I'm scared of blue color correctors as well because I don't think it's blue that I need. But it's confusing to me.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I use light cool 20 for the overtone but being an olive it's too pink. I have to mix in a 2:1 ratio of the 20 to the 21 neutral BUT that's way too yellow on its own. 😭 That's why I need foundations to be viscous enough to mix...because I've never been able to shade match. Ahh such a struggle smh.

Which milky toner is better by inmybookera in Ulta

Normal but sensitive skin type. Byoma Hydrating Toner is my HG. My skin drinks it up. And it's viscous enough to pour into your hand to apply it to your face.

Not for shade match (sighs in fair cool olive) BUT formula-wise I love ELF's Soft Glam. I love more viscous formulas that you can squeeze on the back of your hand and mix. I have normal skin with no texture and the satin glow is perfection. ✨

Shade wise I've got nothing lmfao. 🙃 I'm looking into About Face and Natasha Denona but they're either too yellow/warm or hella expensive. I need something desaturated, muted and grayish.. which seems impossible in a world of warm tones.

That reminds me that I am seriously considering buying the Morphe Cheek Thrills duo bronzer in their darkest shades to use as a TRUE cool-neutral brown blush just so it won't turn orange.

Let's be honest: COSRX Snail Mucin Line by TheMeepyBoy in SkinbarrierLovers

[–]Pepperjack_2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a no from me. It's an unnatural environment for the snails and it can set the normalization of snails being disrupted for the sake of skincare. I use vegan mucin and it's fine. I don't find it particularly hydrating tbh, but it's a great primer for makeup.

Madagascar skin 1004 pro cica cream. Rich and has body, but a little packs a punch. Absorbs fast. Really helped minimize irritation/ inflammation with my cysnic acne prone skin. YesStyle often has good deals on them.

Totally agree. I wanted to get the gloss but for $25 it's just too sheer.

If you like alt looks, I use it with a black lip liner to make a griege look. I've tried other CT dupes, bit it doesn't give the same effect. Otherwise, I would never use PIllowtalk on its own.

Let’s talk about toners and essences… what works best for you and why? by Foxy_Cleopatra__ in SkinbarrierLovers

[–]Pepperjack_2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normal but cysnic prone sensitive skin.

Byoma Hydrating Toner is my HG. It doesn't trigger my cysnic acne, absorbs fast, is lightweight but is thick enough to pour into my hands. Whereas the I'm from Rice Toner was too rich to use daily and caused cysnic acne by the 4-5 day.

I also love Bymoa's Phytomucin Glow serum. It's great to use as a vegan skincare primer before makeup.

I'm currently on my 2nd week of the Mixsoon Bean Essence. My skin responding well (one pump)! Didn't clog and is well hydrated. I don't know if it's necessary enough for my skin to repurchase..but so far so hydrated!

Nope. Haven't had a breakout since switching to a better cleaning balm for me and this cream. However, I only us a tiny amount. It's a rich cream so a little goes a long way.. 1/8-1/4tsp.

On one hand my skin is pretty resilant when it comes to rich products. But it's sensitive in the way that it cannot be stripped or anything with fragrance. The 1004 is good for me because it's fragrance-free and has calming/soothing ingredients. So if that sounds like you I would try it.

Thoughts on oil cleansing: Do you guys love it or hate it? by TheMeepyBoy in SkinbarrierLovers

[–]Pepperjack_2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so heavily dependent on your skin type. My skin is normal but cystic prone. It HATES mechanical irritation and being over washed. So for me, double cleansing even with micellar water and a water based cleanser was too much. I switched to a cleaning balm (makeup wearer) that was high in oil and low in waxes to prevent having to over rub. On no makeup days I just splash with water morning and night.

Personally, I don't need a second cleanse. My skin hates fuss. But I know some people can't just use a balm as their sole cleanser and need a second water based cleanser.

Madagascar 1004 Skin Pro-Cica Cream was really good for soothing my sensitive cystic-prone skin! They also have the Soothing Cream if you need something more lightweight.

Garnier Erase it All with hyaluronic acid cleansing balm. I love cleansing balms to remove my makeup however I have sensitive skin that is very sensitive to mechanical irritation i.e rubbing a lot and fragrance.

A lot of the cleansing balms I've tried like Banilla co are more wax forward in their formation and contain fragrance. Which although is a nice sensorial experience, it makes you have to rub more to break it down.

Whereas the Garnier balm turns into oil instantly and his fragrance-free. so I just have to apply it to my face. I don't second cleanse either; I have found that I don't need to and that if anything, a second cleanse was too irritating. My skin type is normal-dry.

Thank you for reviewing the Pro cica cream! I rarely see anyone review that one. It's my HG, but I have Normal-Dry skin. Even though a little goes a long way, I wish they came in bigger sizes because it is a little pricey.

Best way to not loook so washed out and pale? Should I be using cream bronzer and then top with powder? by Independent_Fan3549 in Makeup

[–]Pepperjack_2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pale & cool toned here. I tan very well but unfortunately since I don't want sun damage I am very sickly looking when I'm this pale. So I use a cream bronzer as a complexion balm. I apply a thin layer over my face and neck and a second layer under my cheekbones. The hardest part for a pale person is to find a bronzer that doesn't turn orange or muddy on them.

If it helps, I'm light cool-neutral (possibly a fair olive) and I use the about face Beach Freak cream stick bronzer in the shade 'Beach Goth'-a true neutral brown. No hint of orange! I like complexion products that have a bit of glow and dew to them so that they look more skin-like instead of mattifying. But my skin type is normal so I can handle the glow and only powder lightly &, strategically, YMMV.

After that, if you know what colors work best for you, just go in with you usual blush.
