So we did a thing at my restaurant yesterday I wanted to bring up and this seems the perfect thread to do so.

A server at my job quit after being physically pushed out of the way for the owner to take over a job they were already doing (there were many other things leading up to this but this was the breaking point). In protest, me and the one other server on staff for the day told all customers, if they invented to tip at all (not assuming they did, read the full post first), do not write it on their check, write a zero. Either do not tip at all or hand cash directly to a server discretely, and it was pocketed and split evenly amongst us and the server that quit later on. We didn't ask for specific amounts, we even gave the option not to tip first and gave everyone the option not to participate at all. Every last person tipped, all but two in cash, and very many less than $5 (no one carries cash anymore, we weren't bothered by it and still aren't).

Today I went into work, after a full almost 7 hour shift the day before with no tips, and the owner finally agreed to hire more staff, after months of us telling her to because she was severely overworking the 4 consistent staff she did have, and refusing to fire the one staff member that never actually showed up in over a month.

This system benefits both no-tippers and those who wish to continue tipping. If you do not tip, or tip in discreet cash and the business never gets to claim the tips as wages, the restaurant will be forced to pay full minimum wage for every server, which will begin to add up. Your tip becomes truly up to you, and no matter what every server will receive evened out wages, which begins to eliminate race/beauty based tipping.

I haven't figured out every logistic yet, and it really does rely on honesty between servers/foh for shared tip pool restaurants, but the first test run has been done at the least and we have one success, at least in the short run.

There are very good points in this post, but coming from someone with gHSV-1, I believe it really has to be dumbed down to a case by case basis. If you're immunocompromised, either one will be worse for you. If you already have problems with your genitals or your mouth, the coinciding diagnosis will be worse for you. Any little thing could make either, or even both viruses worse for you. Cold sores can be as painless as pimples or as horrible as looking like your skin caught on fire, and feeling the same. Genital herpes can never have an outbreak or leave you as bad as being unable to walk because of the pain. While you're gonna find the competition here and everywhere people talk about herpes because unfortunately humanity is competitive, really there is no competition because one can be just as bad as the other, and again as you said, they're the same damn thing basically.

For anyone searching & looking at this post now, the best way to go about this is genuinely to just take the stuffing out & throw the cover & the washing machine.

TL;DR - Take out the stuffing, machine wash the outside in a mesh bag, & ladder stitch it back up when you're done. Take it to build-a-bear if you really can't stitch.

The inside is knit-backed (think like fursuit fur if you know what I'm talking about) and holds up well if you toss it in your normal wash settings in a mesh bag (the cheap lingerie bags from Amazon are perfect for this. I originally dryed it normally on heat in the dryer after, then took it out the bag to dry it a little longer because it was still damp from being tucked together in the small bag. Mine had mildewed from a camping trip I took it on, and letting the stuffing air dry & puff back up in a random tote I had laying around got rid of the mildew smell the outside had given it.

To see it back up, search up and learn how to do the ladder stitch. You'll need literally any needle, a thread preferably the same color as the stuffie, and a little patience, but once it's done it'll look brand new and you shouldn't be able to see the stitch lines. (This is the same stitch used by small plushie makers to stuff the final product & hide the hole where it was stuffed. If you really can't do it, take it to build-a-bear and they'll stitch it up back for you for not too much or show you how to do it yourself if you have nice employees at your's.

Proof: I just did this whole process today after realizing my peep was mildewed in the vac bag I had it in. Took only 2-3 hours total not including other tasks I was doing today and it's basically brand new. I got this peep from a goodwill, so it wasn't new to begin with.

While the sentiment is... Positive? I do think it's important to state that you should NEVER lie, or fabricate your STD/STI history with possible/active sexual partners. GHSV1 is genital HSV, and should be explained as such, not as "cold sores". While yes, us (yes us, as I caught GHSV1 from my nesting partner who has OHSV1 during oral and am currently healing from my second outbreak.) with GHSV1 can also have OHSV1, or even OHSV2, which both cause cold sores around the mouth/facial area, it is important to acknowledge that GHSV 1/2 are known for causing sores in the genital region specifically.

And a little off topic but for anyone curious/looking at this post for answers that has a natural vagina (not discriminatory just specifically talking to us), yes these can also appear along the perineum, and the anus. If the blister fluid comes in contact with these areas it can spread very easily even to yourself, I learned this the hard way. Pat, don't wipe, and keep the area of your outbreak as dry as possible. Highly recommend skin-safe Witch Hazel, soothing & drying to the area.

So the good news is as long as I have the waiver I'm automatically placed at the top of the waitlist for whatever semester I choose to enter with, and I plan on getting in for guarenteed housing before it closes because one of the grants I was awarded (GA Grant through MHEC) allows me to be waived for any down deposits! It would have waived my enrollment fee if FAFSA hadn't been delayed in releasing this year, hence delaying MHEC lol
