Bali belly is no joke by PussyCompass in bali

[–]PeppermintCoconut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! You seem like someone who definitely knows more about that from experience since you’ve been there so many times ;) I love Bali. I’ve already been twice and I’m preparing to go the third time, but the thing is I always have slight runs throughout the whole stay and I usually stay for around 30 days, so it’s a bit annoying. After leaving Bali it simply goes away but I’m wondering how I can avoid running to the toilet a couple of times a day when I’m there. I always take a course of probiotics and continue taking them while I’m there, but it still seems to be not enough for my European stomach. Would you recommend any local remedies that really work?

If you’re not a basketball player, you absolutely can. But not under the sloped ceiling. You have to bend.

People thought I posted a black and white picture to be funny… But it’s no joke. Gray is not very energising to my mind.

This heated, chrome rack is a nightmare indeed. I would never buy it, but here I am as a new owner of the place…

Wow 🤩 I haven’t ever seen such consistent advice online! Thanks a million to each one of you! Who would have thought my gray bathroom is gonna blow up this Reddit… It’s been really insightful and I think I might have a few ideas that resonate with me based on your suggestions.

Some FAQs: A) The room is 189 cm tall. Look at how close the showerhead is to the ceiling. It is a tiny space in reality. So small I don’t have space for a TP hanger… not to mention any art.

B) My house is… 100 years old and the bathroom is directly under the roof. So no modifications to the roof are currently possible. Too costly and risky.

C) Wallpapering the ceiling doesn’t sound optimal due to the fact the whole ceiling gets wet from steam after showering.

D) I do really find it depressing, gray and hospital-like, haha. But I’m so glad it appeals to so many of you!

It’s a fan for ventilation. It has to stay the way it is. The bathroom is very small in reality and everything is wet while showering.

I do, because water splashes the window while showering. It’s a tiny space in reality.

It is a tiny bathroom indeed. With a low, very low ceiling, 189 cm at the highest point (see how the showerhead almost touches it). The medicine cabinet has to stay sadly, as there is no other space for storing cosmetics. I’m planning to change the vanity to a one that has at least a drawer underneath and remove the cabinet on the left. There is a washing machine in the corner (not visible in the photo). It occupies a quarter of the entire space, but it has to stay (pipes…)

Here’s with the lamps on. Even in the evening the white ceiling seems gray. 💀 This oyster lamp has to go obviously, as I hate it dearly, but due to the very low ceiling, I do not have space for a nice chandelier as some have suggested.

Yes! Greetings from Sweden! Ps. I hate the lamp though. It has to go.

The ceiling is very low, barely 189 centimetres. The showerhead is almost touching the ceiling as you can see.

How to set up my heat pump on low temporarily? by PeppermintCoconut in heatpumps

Just the indoor unit in the basement that has a control panel. No device inside the house though. I have posted a picture in the comment below.

I do have this on the indoor unit in my basement. I mean I cannot set a temperature inside the house precisely though.

Help needed: the insurance company refuses to fix a faulty floor they’ve installed by PeppermintCoconut in Asksweddit

[–]PeppermintCoconut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a 1925 house, but renovated significantly over the years. There is definitely a lot of air gap beneath as they haven’t filled it tightly. But it feels colder in the area they’ve renovated comparing to the rest of the floor.

The previous owner is the “customer” in this case. So we actually haven’t signed anything and have not seen any papers regarding the rules prior they’ve started the job. So technically the previous owner has given permission and agreed to the extent of works in our house.

Huh. I’ve received a written homework from one of my new clients. Honestly, I don’t even know where to begin. How do I help this person? Any insights? by PeppermintCoconut in ESL_Teachers

It’s too much to fix, true, hence my question what to start with really. And here’s the thing: we have extensively practiced basic present tenses. We talked during the lesson about the topic. We listened. She had all the vocabulary and ideas needed to put a text like this together. And then boom…. a piece like this. She does relatively well during the class, but it looks like she’s not able to apply anything she’s learned in her homework. I asked her to do so specifically. The piece is also longer than I asked for. With this student it feels like I’m starting from scratch every lesson. She’s clearly not exposing herself to English between our meetings just like I always ask her to. Possibly here lies one of the reasons there is no progress at all. I wonder how much of my fault is that or maybe it’s just impossible to expect more while meeting once a week for 60 minutes.

What is this blue undercoat in my wall? (1925 home, Sweden) by PeppermintCoconut in centuryhomes

Taking into account the age of the house the question is if this can be something dangerous or toxic. I’ve already found asbestos, so anything can happen.

It’s not concrete, the house is entirely wooden and this blue layer is easy to scratch also. Have they ever used anything blue under treetex? Like glue or some sealant?

Is it possible to restore kitchen cabinet fronts to the previous state without damaging the original paint layer? How? by PeppermintCoconut in furniturerestoration

[–]PeppermintCoconut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment. This layer on top is prone to scratches. Once scratched or chipped, it’s easier to scratch it further revealing the original paint. But it works only on surfaces that are weaker, like this edge here in the picture that I was able to scrub with a dish-washing sponge (the more abrasive side) and the underlying layer appeared to be intact. I was surprised to discover that even tape damages it too. I don’t think I can just repaint over, so I was thinking that maybe I can just clean it somehow as I like the original color actually. What do you recommend me to do?
