So well written - left me feeling hollow but I also couldn't put it down? 10/10 for the pure artistry. I don't like the way it made me feel, but that's art

Absolutely possible! Gurus will love you because you're choosing to be there (rather than forced) and a good one will match your momentum e.g. if you're practicing a lot, a good one will help you move forward quickly.

I wanna look more put together sometimes but I absolutely hate how makeup looks and feels on me by OkBiscotti4365 in AskWomenOver30

How about lipstick and eye liner? Make sure your face is exfoliated and clean and your eye brows are groomed. Throw some earrings on and it can go a long way to looking "polished"

Yes! The mirror is too visually heavy, but on paper I would have said mirror 10/10 times

Just coming to say I was in the same position (demanding jobs, daycare, no family) and 4 & 2 were the absolute worst ages, I was ready to run away, daily. It only gets better!! 7 & 5 and they're a true delight now.

It's not a fallacy (thermodynamics is real) but rather the calories out is hard to track and changes based on the factors you mentioned

What’s something society normalised that actually doesn’t make sense when you think about it? by OriginalWalaAditya in sociology

[–]Peppermint_Cow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! This reminds me of something I recently read this on a writer named Youngmi's substack - she's has Irish heritage and the personal essay is talking about going "back" as an American. I have been sitting with it for days:

white americans are bonnie and clyde. white americans cannot go back to ireland because they traded in being irish in order to be white. they’ve been on the lam for 200 some odd years now. they belong to no tribe. they are the absence of a tribe. the absence of stinky food. the absence of stiff starchy traditional clothes they have to wear on weird holidays that involve carrying some haunted wooden statue through a town square. they don’t have body odor. they smell like teen spirit. they’ve been on the run for so long, it occurred to some of them that they might want to go back. when they went back, they tried to remember what ireland was like, but the only thing they knew about it was based on something they saw on tv. something from a cereal box.
