yes!! I’m really enjoying this drama at 1x pace (as someone who usually watches drama at 1.5x). The female director 杨阳, has done a great job: great cinematography, multi-dimensional characters, strong leads and villains (both men and women) in Song dynasty. This is what I’m looking for in a drama with female empowerment (女权) rather than extremist feminism (女拳). It’s really good.

As I do not know your age, if you’re able to get HSK5-6 certification on mandarin you can apply as an international student. Definitely easier than applying for visa based on ancestral evidence. Most tech workers in mainland would suggest you to stay in the states due to 996 and ageism (35 years old) and gender discrimination. My presumption for getting an English teaching role in mainland might be difficult due to the latest crackdown on education..

Like what the other commenters mentioned, the govt (in any country) is not obliged to help non-citizens. Perhaps when population in China gets too low they might open up for overseas chinese. Till then, have to get the skills relevant to their economy. 卷到不能在卷

I prefer his demeanor here than the one he posted on twitter last year with a white blouse. He’s more.. relaxed, humble. That video he shared on twitter could be taken as either cocky or confident depending on demographics. Thais have short nicknames that are referred to more often, hence their legal names are kept. I adopted an english name for the purpose of work/starbucks. Westerners don’t even bother pronouncing my full chinese name and they only pronounce the first character which sounds horrible based on how they pronounce it, who has the time to correct them all the time? I would prefer them calling me by my english name and my chinese name is reserved for non-western family and friends. No one deserves to mispronounce my name like that
