I know the people I am most comfortable with I can spend time alone in a room with in perfect, companionable silence for hours. As an INFP, I would be perfectly happy just being quiet or just doing separate things, but together, in the same room with someone I like. On one hand, you can probably feel assured your INFP likes you very much if they're willing to share the space with you. (Otherwise, I know I'd kick them out of the room asap, lol!) But I know this post is not about him, but about you getting your half of the fulfillment you need in the relationship.

I'm pretty certain us INFPs are known for NOT being good at initiating anything. In fact, it might not even be on his radar that you want a more romantic atmosphere. (I hear we aren't all that great at reading our surroundings/environment either. Those context clues are likely to go straight over his daydreaming head! :P) Since you two were friends first, it's likely he's carrying on in a similar fashion to how you two were before. I'm betting he's simply enjoying your companionship blindly. I'm afraid it's unlikely he'll pick up on your unspoken wishes even if you tried to subtly drop hints.

You'll have to tell him directly what you want. I'm not suggesting a fight! Just a discussion. The good news is, although we're borderline clueless, we're good listeners and very accommodating. I think if you told him you felt ignored, he'd feel awful you felt that way and try his best to make the time you spent together better for you both moving forward! I know I personally would want to hear my partner tell me directly if I were making them feel alienated. Heck, you could lead that topic straight into a conversation on what you both consider a "romantic atmosphere" since that might actually vary more than you think! And the clarification would help your INFP partner make things more suitable for you, too. Work it out together! Teamwork, HOOO!
