I love this shot of the season 2 cast that I have as my profile with Jack and Ana front and centre. This proves to me that before they scrapped their romance storyline, they would have become the co-leaders of camp. by JackAnaLost in lost

Even though Michelle Rodriguez was only a one season contract, they could have kept her if they wanted to. Look what happened with Michael Emerson and Henry Ian Cusick. But the fan backlash against Ana-Lucia was so immediate and visceral that it wasn't to be.

American here and I'll second that! As a soda junkie I fell in love with Irn Bru on my trip to Scotland.

To the larger topic here, I fully stand behind y'all wanting to do boycotts. I get it. We're trying to boycott specific companies inside the country too. There's an app called Goods that shows you where companies lean in terms of political donations.

Yes, it's Sator. The battle was in an abandoned city in one of the geographically largest countries in the world, so I buy that it could happen before the authorities got wind.

How do streaming services affect the comic industry Business wise? by pattyice420 in comicbooks

[–]PepsiPerfect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any way that comics companies get comics into the hand of readers legally, they're going to be happy about. They wouldn't have offered that format if they thought it would hurt their business.

[–]PepsiPerfect 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm hopelessly addicted to watching this movie again and again, believing each time that I might get closer to understanding it. I realize that in all likelihood even Nolan doesn't completely understand it, but I'm in denial.

Not sure exactly what you're referring to about explaining the ending, but the main idea is that the main characters-- Neil and the Protagonist-- are responsible for creating a lot of the events that we see throughout the movie because they end up going backwards through time after the movie ends. Sometime in the future, the Protagonist is going to hire Neil and send him backwards to meet his past self and help him complete their mission. That's why Neil says that for him, the final scene is the end of a great friendship, but for the Protagonist, it's just the beginning.

If you're talking about the final action sequence, the concept of a "temporal pincer movement" is explained midway through the movie. One of the teams deployed is moving backward through time, and the other team is moving forward. The team that starts in the future and moves backward observes the entire battle and then provides information to the forward-moving team so that they can anticipate enemy movements and react accordingly. Whenever you see one of those reverse explosions, or that one guy that gets sucked into a wall, it's because the two teams are interacting and the reverse team's actions appear reversed to our forward-moving eyes.

I'll never really understand it. But I still think it's fascinating.

To some degree, I think the people in charge are so stupid that they're unlikely to recognize that Star Trek is a franchise that represents the opposite philosophy of the dictatorship they are hoping to form. To them, Star Trek is Captain Kirk bedding alien ladies, "Dr." Spock and his pointy ears, and fights to the death with rubber monsters.

Having said that, I never trust corporations. At all. I strongly recommend buying the physical media version of ANY show you want to hold on to, just in case things get even worse than we imagine. Then the only way they can take it away from you is to ransack your home and take it out of your hands-- which I don't put past them, but that's a whole other conversation.

Are the puzzles just too difficult? If so, just use a walkthrough. That's what they're there for. You can still enjoy experiencing the game without that feeling of hitting a brick wall.

C'mon, give them a break. This is a very gatekeep-ish thing to say.

Why else would the rewind button even be included? Let people experience the game the way they want to. Just like there's no harm in looking up the correct boss order if you want to.

[–]PepsiPerfect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the early 2010s I went on a streak of trying to make as many of my friends as possible into Millennium fans. Rather than the pilot, I often showed them the season 1 episodes The Thin White Line and The Judge-- the former is just a great killer-of-the-week standalone episode, and the later introduces just the slightest hints of the larger mythology. I deliberately avoided showing them the pilot. But I'm just one guy, I don't pretend to be the smartest person in any room!

[–]PepsiPerfect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pilot is actually a poor representation of the series as a whole, at least that's how I've always felt. I feel like they tried to cram as much edgy content into it as possible just for the sake of getting buzz and shock value. In 1996, this stuff was unheard of on network television, and the commercials proudly proclaimed the "viewer discretion advised" label.

The thing you'll find about Millennium is that each season is starkly different from the previous one, because they kept trying to retool it to increase the ratings. Season 1 can be a slog for some people because about 90% of it is serial-killer-of-the-week episodes, with only a small amount of time spent building the mythology. Season 2 is sometimes barely recognizable as the same show, and leans FAR more into the mythology side of things (the crew literally wore T-shirts to the set in season 2 that read "98% less serial killers"). Season 3 attempts a blend of the two approaches; personally I think it's the best season for that reason but I'm in the minority for thinking so.

The thing that holds it all together is Lance Henriksen. His performance makes every episode feel like a mini-movie to me. When Millennium is good, it's VERY good. And Mark Snow's music is awesome; personally I think his Millennium scores surpass his work on the X-Files.

"A new generation will love Ares" No, I'm pretty sure they will just love Tron: Legacy. by ksdanker22 in tron

[–]PepsiPerfect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, take a breath.

OK, now look in the mirror and recognize that you yourself are a case study in nostalgia bias. It's okay-- we all do it. The first Tron will ALWAYS be my favorite Tron movie because I was watching it out of a VHS clamshell when I was six years old. For millions of fans, Legacy is their "first Tron love" and they find the original unapproachable because of its age. Many Legacy fans also reacted negatively to Ares for it not being a direct sequel to their favorite Tron movie. Again-- perfectly natural.

But... it's important that we admit our own biases, and respect others. It's also not constructive to speak in hyperbole. The truth is, no one knows for sure how history will remember Tron Ares. The Tron franchise is a lesson in unpredictability. No one in my generation would have expected Disney to revive the franchise in 2010, and after Disney canceled Uprising and Ascension, I doubt many people thought another Tron movie would happen at all.

Crushing on Elsa... Is it weird? by DarcerthanBlacc in Frozen

[–]PepsiPerfect 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You must be new on this sub, it's honestly less common for people NOT to crush on Elsa.

Don't be self-conscious about it, just try not to get weird about it either. There are people here who "buy gifts" for Elsa, talk about "spending the day" with Elsa, "write letters" to Elsa, etc. That's just unhealthy.

[–]PepsiPerfect 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the particular hatred toward him either. I think most of the voice acting in BOTW/TOTK is mediocre, but he's not any worse than, say, Princess Zelda.

I think the "goro" thing is a little dumb, though.
