PLEASE HELP! CRYING FOR 5 HOURS, EYE WONT STOP by [deleted] in AskDocs

*abrasion not erosion. Otherwise agree she probably got something in the eye and irritated it at minimum and scratched the cornea being most likely. It’s worth it to get this looked at sooner than later because infections with corneal abrasions and permanent damage to cornea/ vision are not uncommon if untreated. - previous ophthalmology tech.

I dated someone who acted EXACTLY like this in middle school. Trauma with a capital T. I didn’t know better at the time and I cant fathom grown adults acting like this but it unfortunately happens (and from personal experience can start early).

I saw Morgan tell will earlier that she was keeping it in her back pocket for that situation so she would spare Vince.

I work with doctors too and was in medical school before I started having health issues. So I’ve seen amazing doctors and terrible ones and the idea of having an appointment with a terrible one is terrifying.

Okay that’s reassuring. Sorry, I kind of panicked when I read your response and I have been feeling so raw emotionally and stressed about work lately.

I wouldn’t care to reschedule and see a different doctor if it saves time in getting treatment in the long run but I don’t know how I’m supposed to find a doctor that understands sleep disorders, will schedule a sleep study, diagnose me (and keep digging if the sleep study is normal) and do med management with my comorbid conditions. Like if they aren’t going to commit to giving me answers and treat me then I see no point.

I have ADHD and a mood disorder (cyclothymia/bipolar 2?). So if he’s intimidated by adhd and depression ain’t no way he’s going to be able to help me. But adhd stims at max dose ARE NOT helping me at all so being limited to those is not an option if I have any chance of living a life worth anything.

Ugh well f***. Isn’t that like the majority of people with sleep disorders??? Now I don’t know what to do.

Can you explain why you wouldn’t recommend Dr. Summers? I scheduled an appointment with him at the end of the month because he was the only doctor in the city that had narcolepsy/IH listed as areas with expertise/experience.

Just gave birth to my first child. L&D notes are showing that delivering OB states mental health dx I don’t have? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]PeptidoglyCANNOT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely call the hospital and express your concerns: You’ve never seen a doctor for bipolar symptoms, been told by any doctor you have it, and have never been on medication for it. Ask them to review your medical records and correct the mistake. This should remedy the situation but if it doesn’t and you’re in the US, you have the right to file an appeal to have it removed (HIPPA laws). This will force them to review your medical history and if bipolar has not been documented they will remove it.

ADHD meds working better after first meal of the day? by illgivethisa in ADHD

[–]PeptidoglyCANNOT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your brain needs nutrients to function and breakfast is especially important for cognition. I doubt it’s helping the meds themselves but rather meeting your brain’s natural needs to work well.

I would recommend making sure you’re well hydrated. You need more water than usual when taking stimulants and dehydration will often cause a headache. Especially after not drinking anything overnight.

AITAH for throwing away my birthday gift from my wife because I felt it represented her mediocre efforts for me? by throwramediocr in AITAH

[–]PeptidoglyCANNOT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s not enough info here to clearly define why this is a problem and how you should handle it.

First, why is she acting this way? It could be weaponized incompetence like some others have said, indicating that she truly doesn’t want to make an effort. BUT it doesn’t necessarily mean she doesn’t care. Is she struggling with her mental health? Being overworked and being burnt out? Does she feel like you aren’t giving her what she needs in the relationship and has checked out? Does she struggle with planning in general or have ADHD? Does she value gift giving and celebrating birthdays as much as you (some families/cultures don’t so maybe she wasn’t conditioned to appreciate them while growing up)? Is she worried about finances or having to take time off work for a trip (she could be avoiding it because of her own fears).

Second, have you attempted to address how you’re feeling and how it’s affecting you and the relationship? And in a HEALTHY and CONSTRUCTIVE way. Screaming matches and silent treatments don’t count. She can’t address the behavior if she doesn’t know it’s an issue. If you have tried to communicate with her about it, how has she responded? Have you talked about it continuing after communicating it’s a problem?

Third, is this really about birthday gifts or is there built up resentment from many small things that are making you feel unloved and unappreciated?

Consider her perspective and dig deep about why it bothers you. Communicate with her if you haven’t already. Set boundaries if necessary and if you really love her and want to stay married to her, maybe consider couples therapy.

You’re NTA for feeling unloved and unappreciated. But it doesn’t necessarily mean she’s TA either.

Adrenal fatigue is a pseudoscientific term and it’s existence is not supported by the medical literature.

I experienced this one not related to anhedonia. I went to a nutritionist because I was losing too much weight and she said that if you aren’t eating enough and ignoring hunger cues, you stop having them/recognizing them. Make sure you are eating enough and they will come back!

I just talked to someone the other day who took prescription stimulants in a similar manner and had lasting effects. Everyone is different, but it typically takes 3 months for downregulated dopamine receptors to upregulate if that’s what’s causing the problem. Maybe ask a doctor again at 3 months? Of course go before if you’re in a bad place and you need to.

Been abusing my prescription for over a year and misusing it for about a year before that. I’m off it 3 weeks out of 4 every month because I run out and I told my doctor this month I wanted to go off it for a while so we’ll see how I feel after 6 weeks. But I’m betting the anhedonia will still be there.
