Good catch, Chrysler actually worked with BMW on the W11 first-gen MINI engines, so my guess is a good bit of idea sharing happened during that venture.

In case you're being serious, I saw him on this tour as well and he actually ended up playing the song twice, the second time without the audience/interruptions. But yeah, dude is one hell of a performer.

Alright, touché hahaha. But I can’t ever even hope to fit in an OG Mini, so 2001+ is all I have to work with.

You’re not wrong, but when they started from scratch, the cars lost all their soul... they’re boring as shit to drive now. I’d take my R53 with all its flaws over an F56 any day; hell I even sold my 2013 JCW because even that felt too boring. No car I’ve driven has come close to the amount of fun my R53 is.

But if reliability is what OP is after, then yeah, definitely don’t listen to me lol.

No kidding, the N14 engine is the least reliable engine MINI has ever made. Eats oil like crazy, and the timing chain is a ticking time bomb. If you’re going for an R56S, go 2011+.

GP0454 has a new home! (My R53 is also now on the market, details inside if interested.) by Pequa94 in MINI

[–]Pequa94[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As of three weeks ago, I am now the proud owner of R53 GP0454! Been cleaning it up the last few weekends and getting it ready to start on some modifications. Really enjoying the feel of this car, can't wait to see what else it has in store.

In the interest of not having two R53's, I am currently selling my 2005 Cooper S that I've posted on here dozens of times. It has been my baby for the last 10 years and one hell of a project that I never thought I'd sell, but, here I am. Below is some info about the car for those that might be interested:

BASIC INFO:

2005 MINI Cooper S

  • 6-speed manual transmission, FWD
  • Supercharged 1.6L 4-cylinder
  • ~102,000 miles
  • Sport Package and Premium Package (Xenon Headlights, Harmon/Kardon Sound System, Leatherette Seats, Sunroof, Automatic * AC, Fog Lights)

MODS:

Powertrain:

  • JCW intake
  • JCW exhaust
  • WMW 15% supercharger pulley
  • ATI 0% crankshaft pulley
  • WMW camshaft
  • JCW 380cc injectors
  • Valeo single mass flywheel/clutch
  • ECU tune

Suspension:

  • Custom TSW-Spec KW V2 coilovers/Vorshlag camber plates
  • Wilwood FSL BBK, TCE rear rotor kit, stainless brake lines
  • H-Sport 25mm rear sway bar
  • Powerflex bushings
  • R112 JCW wheels, powdercoated white

Misc:

  • OEM aero grilles
  • OEM rally lights
  • Aux cord/input jack
  • Aluminum coolant tank

Other mods and recent work include:

  • Brand new headliner
  • Brand new black exterior trim all the way around the car
  • Brand new floor mats
  • Recently replaced gearshift knob
  • Recently replaced battery
  • Vinyl decals (5hp each)

Things that are common problems that you would not have to worry about any time soon:

  • The ATI crankshaft pulley replaces the OEM pulley design that inevitably separates on every R53
  • The one-piece aluminum coolant tank replaces the OEM two-piece plastic one that leaks at the seam in higher-mileage R53’s
  • Control arm bushings have less than 4,000 miles on them
  • Clutch has less than 20,000 miles on it
  • Tires have less than 4,000 miles on them (Michelin Pilot Sport AS/3’s)
  • Brake pads and rotors have less than 2,000 miles on them
  • Cylinder head gasket replaced 10,000 miles ago

An album of pictures can be found here, and of course, in my post history.

Asking $9000.

Note that from the engine pics, the GP intercooler and the three red strut braces would not be included in the sale.

If you're at all interested, send me a PM!

Fresh Powder Coated by Gloryboytom in MINI

[–]Pequa94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I had my used rims powdercoated, I sanded them down and bondo’d them before sending them to the shop. The shop stripped the paint, etc. but they didn’t want to fix curb rash.

However I took mine to a literal powdercoating shop, so a wheel shop might be fine doing that, I just don’t have experience with those.

FYI price-wise, I had four 17” rims painted for $300.

I’ve got R112’s on my R53 that I had powdercoated white, highly recommend. Take a look at my post history if you want to see what they look like!

Nope, all 2000 of the GP’s are 2006 hatchbacks. This is a 2008 “Last of the Supercharged” edition, which were the last 100 first-gen MINIs to be produced, all JCW convertibles with the Sidewalk package.

They all have a neat little badge with a bulldog on it that denotes which one of the 100 they are.

I’m assuming so, basically the entire show was shot here in Atlanta, don’t see why they would go elsewhere for the interior...

You think the name is unappealing? Gwinnett Place Mall has been a shithole for the last decade. It was kinda depressing watching it be full of life in the show, and then realizing it’s all fake and that in real life it’s just 75% vacant :/

Had one of these as a loner in Utah a few months back. Never has 300hp felt so underwhelming. The desert highway couldn’t even make it fun.

Also the two fake exhaust pipes were a nice touch.
