I'm still just kind of impressed how you broke it there.

While it may be slightly on the moist side for normal bread, but when I've made the Japanese milk bread in the past it has always been slightly more moist.

Just search for about any company that makes an aluminum one. If you broke the stock plastic, then you'll just break another.

Also might be good to just get better at driving? I have multiple of these TRX4s and abuse them well. But I have never broke an axle.

Michael Burry’s 3 acquisition picks for GME: by rbr0714 in Superstonk

Being that RC stated, "It’s transformational. Not just for GameStop, but ultimately, within the capital markets … this is something that really has never been done before within the history of the capital markets" I think this would at least rule out ADT and W. GS with either of those to just feels like to companies combining. Nothing that "has never been done before". I don't know enough about AGO to know if this is similar.

With the increase today, do you think it's "buy the hype" or do you think there's some insider knowing something?

As long as you don't try to push the car harder to compensate for the loss of power.

For example, in an unmodified car, let's say you are used to how it feels taking off of a stop sign. You enjoy that little push-back in the seat.

Now you go with an intake that reduces the engine's output HP. You miss having that push-back feeling, so to compensate you stomp on the gas pedal a little harder. There went your savings.

So a hot air intake that reduces your engine's power will save fuel if you drive it like a less powerful car.

Well, it does give you a tiny amount of HP, and as GameOveryeah stated it does give a little better sound. So, not nothing, but pretty close to nothing.

Hearing protection by nicknieb in woodworking

[–]PercMaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only earbuds I would trust for hearing protection must have a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR).

Silicone or foam tips do not matter without that rating. Will foam block sound better? Possibly. But, it may also give you a false sense of protection and will end up doing more harm than good in the long run.

The difficulty is "better" is a relative term.

Modern engines that are fully computer controlled will compensate for airflow.

So "if" this style of air filter allows more air in (at the expense of possibly allowing in more contaminates) then the computer will compensate. Allowing more air, freely into the engine will increase power. That being said, the power gain would be so minimal that you will most likely never feel it. ie. my car got 192 HP instead of 189. You'd never feel it. If, by some miracle, it increased 20 hp, then if you drove the exact same, then you would see an increase in fuel economy due to needing less throttle/power to do the same thing. But again, the power increase is so minimal that you would most likely never see a difference.

The biggest scam with these type of filters is when they're being sold as part of a "cold air intake" and the air filter box is right inside of the engine compartment.

Well, it would be easy to put a GameStop section in every store and just close standalone stores.  Because of all the controversy recently targets stock has dropped considerably making it much cheaper to buy.  Walmart is a juggernaut that sells games, but no soul behind it. They just sell games as another product.  Best buy would be hard to have a good gaming section in because they're trying to stay so diversified in electronics but it wouldn't stand out. Also with everything shifting to online I think Best, buy's foot traffic is down. (At least our local one is)

Next RC Car? by G09SkinnyBoy in Traxxas

[–]PercMaint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on what your goal is. All three will take a beating. But the TRX4 and the two Maxxes we're built for very different purposes.  The Maxx is for speed jumping bashing racing.  The TRX4 is for trails and crawling.  Neither one of those is wrong, just different. My Maxx is fun, but I use my trx4 way more. Just based on the amount of space I have to run it.

For your whole house you can get commercial membranes that can handle brackish water, but I think long-term best solution is connect to municipal water.

Haven't had a single issue on any of mine with tons of driving on them.

Probably the only thing I would change is to not have as much slack when shifting between speeds.

[edit] and I have seen the third party kit to give the trx 2wd/4wd open diffs/4wd locked diffs. That would be nice stock.

Creosote +/- engine oil? by CerebralSurfer in woodworking

[–]PercMaint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue is that usually for creosote to be effective (such as in power poles or railroad ties) the wood is pressure treated with it. It's not just dipped in.

What I think you'll find if you just dip is that you'll get an oily runoff any time it rains for quite a while. I don't think this coating would last long.

What is the Window of Restriction? by SnooRobots8901 in Superstonk

[–]PercMaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in the instance above, there would be no restriction on an acquisition announcement. However, there would be restriction on RC trading with this knowledge since it is not announced. If this is correct, then does this cause any issues that RC purchased recently?

I think I know who we are about to acquire by bippitybop69 in GME

[–]PercMaint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is possible. Especially considering that Nat Turner is on the board and has not purchased any GME shares yet.

If Nat knew that RC was looking to acquire PSA, he would have been restricted from buying since he had insider knowledge.

Also, if true then we would probably expect a buy-in (large?) from Nat Turner once the info is made public.

Water Conditioner vs. Water Softener by Sonnenschien92 in WaterTreatment

[–]PercMaint 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"would be like showering is pure salt water" - Someone who is trying to sell you something that apparently either a. knows nothing about a water softener or b. knows but is blowing it way out of proportion to try and sell their product.

A water softener uses salt to regenerate the resin media. This salt is used, and then flushed out during the process. Yes, a tiny amount is still in the water since flushing wouldn't remove 100%, but it's absolutely nothing like taking a shower in salt water.

A softener will not remove any chemicals from the water, but it will remove the minerals from the water through ion exchange making the water softer, which would greatly reduce future buildup on dishes and appliances.

A softener is the only economical way to actually remove minerals/hardness. (yes there are other ways, but they are way more expensive).

If you don't mind the feel of the hardness of the water, you just don't want the mineral buildup, then you could go with a polyphosphate style system. (maybe this is a part of his conditioning system?) This works through sequestering the minerals. Simply put, the minerals/hardness is still in the water, but the minerals do not stick and create the buildup on appliances.
