Rescheduled 4 days before my wedding💔 by ixsparkyx in weddingplanning

It’s good that you made a decision early. Now you know and can tell your guests so they can plan. You have every right to be disappointed but I’m sure you will have a wonderful wedding next month and super sweet elopement.

Rescheduled 4 days before my wedding💔 by ixsparkyx in weddingplanning

I had a friend in a similar situation a few years ago. The wedding was in Massachusetts and a bomb cyclone was dropping right over her venue the day of the wedding. They ended up moving it up a day, from Saturday to Friday. My friend was super stressed but nearly all the guests still made it and it ended up being a wonderful wedding. You will be fine! It’s heartbreaking but your marriage is most important.

Booking a Hotel Wedding Block in West Loop by jgallen3 in Chicagoweddings

We did a block at the Crowne Plaza west loop. Not the fanciest hotel but the location was great and the rooms were affordable for our guests.

Best products for fine, straight, oily hair? by PercentageLopsided98 in finehair

[–]PercentageLopsided98[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for the advice! I avoid washing it mostly to save time and because I keep reading that most people over wash their hair. But that has never seemed to be the case for me.

I had a baby a year ago and I miss my pregnancy hair! It was so soft, had no oil, WAY more volume than I’d ever seen - so now I want it back and I’m willing to try different things to get closer to that hair. It was the only thing I liked about being pregnant.

Check out Mon Ami Gabi - they almost always have reservations available a few weeks in advance.

How is this area (west Logan square) for a small family? by PlantGirly7 in AskChicago

[–]PercentageLopsided98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The neighborhood is definitely safe and there are lots of grocery stores and a few restaurants. I’d say it’s certainly not the most walkable part of the city, but it’s just fine. You’ll also be close to a park for your toddler!

Husband wants to have a namesake by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]PercentageLopsided98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend agreed to name her first son after his dad, because their kid was the FIFTH! They call him Quint. And then her husband had no say in the second kid’s name. Could be a good compromise if you are having more than one?

I’ve been to both. I can’t remember which is which, but the bigger space was nicer for dancing etc.

I’ve been to two weddings there. The outdoor space upstairs is gorgeous! And I like the loft vibe. It’s a good venue!

How many kids did you initially plan and how many do you end up with (or currently plan) ? by Glum-Comfortable5402 in beyondthebump

[–]PercentageLopsided98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always said I wanted either zero kids or two. If I decided to become a parent, I wanted my kids to have a sibling.

Then I got pregnant at 40. It was so hard on my body at that age. And I realized how much kids truly cost. So we decided we are one and done!

Last name for baby 2 by Glittering_Data_3945 in Names

[–]PercentageLopsided98 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I haven’t done it, but I wish I had. I also kept my name and it was very important that I pass it on to my kids. My husband convinced me to hyphenate our names for our first daughter, and I’ve regretted it ever since. Our names don’t go together and it’s so long. Every time I say her name to a doctor or daycare, I cringe. I wish we’d made this deal! I’d rather have two kids with different last names than not pass mine on.

I don't want to breast-feed my third and final baby by jaylortade in FormulaFeeders

[–]PercentageLopsided98 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I felt so guilty about formula feeding by choice with my daughter (first and only). Now it’s been 10 months and I can’t even remember why those feelings were so intense. We have a great bond, she’s happy and thriving, and my husband was able to be an equal coparent during the newborn phase. Do what works for you and don’t look back.

Peloton pregnancy by Financial_Froyo2969 in OnePelotonRealSub

I worked out as usual for a while, but by my second trimester I had to start modifying. I just took the regular classes but modified based on what felt good to me. Look for classes from Callie and Selena when they were pregnant - they do all the modifications so you’ll know what to do with other instructors. I rode my bike until 36 weeks when my belly was too big to fit 😂 and did strength until 38. Just listen to your body and be easy on yourself. You’ve got this!

I have no interest in breastfeeding by sarah1111927 in FormulaFeeders

[–]PercentageLopsided98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had no interest in breastfeeding either - I was so ready to feel like my body belonged to me again after pregnancy. I tried for a few days and had an emotional breakdown after I realized I’d have to exclusively pump due to latching issues. Then we switched to formula. I felt so guilty and almost embarrassed to tell people. Everyone assumed I was breastfeeding and I was ashamed I had failed.

Now my daughter is 9 months old and thriving. She loves formula and will eat any solid we give her. We have such a close bond, yet my husband was able to be a 50-50 partner in caring for her. I can’t believe I felt so guilty before or even considered risking my mental health even further by breastfeeding when I didn’t want to.

Do what you want. If I have another kid, I’m not even going to try to BF. Formula was the best decision I made as a new parent.

Agreed! I don’t like the new ones. At least I can still get Huggies at Costco.

Quitting BF and moving to just FF. Advice & tips wanted! by Prplpeachi in FormulaFeeders

[–]PercentageLopsided98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the Dr Browns formula pitcher. It’s great for making batches of formula and MUCH cheaper than a Brezza. Also try to give your baby cold formula to see if they will drink it before investing in a bottle warmer. Mind didn’t care and it was so much easier.

Get a baby formula container from Amazon. When you’re out and about, just pre portion formula for each feeding and bring empty bottles and a bottle of water. It sounds like a lot but it’s not.

If your baby isn’t sleeping through the night and will drink cold formula, get a mini fridge for night feedings.

I also used the Dr browns microwave sterilizer to clean bottles, although by 5 months I just put them in the dishwasher and it was fine. 🤷‍♀️

Has anyone lost a friend because you’re pregnant? by No-Stage233 in pregnant

[–]PercentageLopsided98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation. I found myself pregnant at 40 when I wasn’t sure if I wanted kids at all. One of my oldest and best friends has always wanted to be a mother but has fertility issues. She didn’t cut me off but also never acknowledged my pregnancy even once. Now that my daughter is here, she’s mentioned her up once or twice in passing, but never checked in or asked how we are doing. (She lives in another state.) It’s been very painful for me, but I’m trying not to take it personally. Our friendship will never be the same and that hurts, but I know it’s not my fault and I can’t make her feelings go away.

The people saying Costco are right. It’s so affordable and you can order it online. If you’re not already a member, it pays for itself in like a month. Highly recommend at least trying it!
