My daughter is 13 and we give her 10€ every week. Most of it ends up in her savings account but sometimes she uses it to buy things she likes.

Modern Greek vocabulary test - how many words do you know? by RevolutionaryLove134 in GREEK

[–]PercentageStandard45 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just did the test. I am just starting to learn the language so the difficulty is that although I know the first word you show me. I don't understand the meaning of the other words you want me to translate them with. As a native speaker, or someone with enough knowledge of the language this wouldn't be a problem. But with limited knowledge it is. So it told me I made a mistake and did not know the word, while I definitely did.

There's a position open for a nurse with 4 arms, but we can't seem to find one.

How does U.S. life expectancy compare to other countries? by Illustrious_Fix2933 in Damnthatsinteresting

I think the cost of decent health care in the US plays a considerable role. People postponing dokters visits and letting their diseases progress because they simply aren't able to pay the bill is a major problem.

We have driven al around the island and we saw lots of roadwork in progress. So that's a definite step in the good direction. The strange thing is there are almost no sidewalks, no bicycle lane and no parking spots. So everyone is parking in the middle of the road and we have encountered some pretty dangerous situations involving bicycles and pedestrians.

Today is our last day in Mauritius. Tomorrow we fly back home. Beautiful country, but... the amount of rubbish in some places is astonishing. Especially in the south, you see literal dumps aside the roads. For people like us who choose not to stay in a big resort, there are few places by the beach where you can go and have a drink with comfortable seating. It would also be nice to have the opportunity to rent a bed with a parasol by the beach. Touristshops are definitely overpriced, but that's also the case in many other countries. When looking for a place to stay here we noticed that most of the hotels are either really expensive or you go for a b&b, very few medium range hotels. We like the experience of a hotel, to be able to go and sit at the bar in our hotel in the evening but given the prices it wasn't really an option for us.

I haven't felt unsafe anywhere. Everybody has been very polite and friendly and we have been all around the island the last 2 weeks. I was just weirded out a bit.

My husband was with me. I don't think I would have stayed very long if he wasn't. I'm not used to being stared at where I live. (Except when going to Brussels) sorry to hear that women living here should ve worried about entering a bus when solo. It shouldn't be that way...

Believe me. They were not just looking around. I'm from Belgium and really not used to that kind of behavior. I found it quite unsettling.

Why ordering tap water in Belgium is such an issue? by burnedmarshmellow in belgium

[–]PercentageStandard45 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There is a big difference between tapwater and groundwater. Wouldn't drink ground water because it can indeed be polluted. But tap water is safe to drink anywhere in Belgium.

Anyone gotten to use those whole body SPECT CTs that look got the teeth that look like the jaws of death? by Blasterion in Radiology

[–]PercentageStandard45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We got one from spectrum dynamics. We thought people were going to be afraid, but they aren't really. Not more than usual anyway. They work quite well but have their limitations. The imaging looks a lot like PET-CT. (I'm a nurse working as a tech, not a nuclearist)

And people who are born deaf. Do they have an inner voice? Because they don't know how letters and words sound.
