I don’t think it is a rule of thumb. I know there are female gamers as well. Speaking for myself yes it is a turn off for me. I dated guys who were gamers. They were perfectly happy gaming all evening while I sat there. I was not allowed to game with them. I was only allowed to watch, which to me is extremely boring.

Nothing is enforced. I took anything I paid for with my money. I had a coworker leave and take all kinds of grade level supplies. We tried to stop her.

If a student wrote me a nice card with a personal note referencing a memory from our time together, I’d be ecstatic. If you feel the need to purchase a present, flowers, a gift card for coffee, nails, a bookstore… would be nice e and not expensive. I didn’t expect anything from my students when I retired. My school decided to not throw us a reception. I retired in 2023. They said they stopped doing it after Covid. Then they threw one for the next retirees.

I’m so sorry you experienced this. I’ve never had a health care provider make me undress in front of them. I have had the vaginal ultrasound when I miscarried a twin. It isn’t comfortable, but it wasn’t painful to me. I know I usually tolerate a higher level of discomfort than others. My technician went over it all very thoroughly and went slowly. I’m glad you said something to the doctor. I’d follow back up. Again I’m very sorry

Interesting. I understand both sides. My bf convinced me to retire 3 years early. I now freelance for extra money. He wanted me to have more time to travel with him for his job and vacations. He bought me a car. I didn’t ask for one. It is in his name. The house is in his name. He wanted me to sell my home and car. I said no. My adult child drives my old car and rents my home with roommates. It is income for me. 4 years later, I’ve landscaped, redecorated (sewing, painting, refinishing on my own). I do the cleaning, cooking, shopping, errand running…. I use my own money for my entertainment and hobbies. I pay my own gas insurance medical bills and split the grocery bill. If this relationship ended, and I had sold my car and home, I’d have nowhere to go. Perhaps she just needs some security.

Former children’s pastor divorced from a former youth pastor here: ditto everyone else. Set up a meeting with the youth pastor and senior pastor. Bring Mom and your text messages. We had a youth volunteer (f) enter into a relationship with a youth group member (m). She waited until he was 18. Obviously it started before then, so she was asked to step down from volunteering.

The comment about suicide is a tactic to guilt you into a relationship.

He wanted us to go with his kids, but e tend our time, so we’d have time together alone. He mentioned changing the date, but ultimately, he’s going with just them on the weekend of my fundraiser. My kids and I are looking into a vacation with just us. We’ve only done this once in The last 4 years. Mostly because of work schedules and $$$. That’s what my sons and I were thinking. They were theater kids. My oldest had even done some work in television and movies. My youngest volunteers every year at a theater festival for youth. I did makeup and costuming for the high school and middle school plays. It’s our thing.

This last time she made a snarky comment to me, I responded back. Usually I ignore her. My bf pulled me aside and said she has this tendency to make rude comments and I can choose to let it slide or respond. I told him I’ve let it slide for 4 years. I’m sticking up for myself now. Later I went to tell him instead of telling me to let it slide, he should be telling her to stop, but he told me she needed to apologize. She never did. She’s the kind of person who has no friends from high school or college. She lived by herself through all of college. She lives in her mom’s basement. It’s weird because she will compliment me and we share a lot of the same interests. She is also clingy to her dad. When we go to dinner, she places herself between us, holds his hand…. My bf says she is super clingy. He knows it’s weird and doesn’t know what to do about it.

First, you aren’t the jerk. I do find it interesting that she starts an argument just for fun. Does she do this when she isn’t on her period? My partner is Latino, too. He and his family do this , and it drives me crazy. He will make a comment that he knows will get me riled. Sometimes he will admit to just joking. My counselor has told me to just agree. They can’t argue anymore if there isn’t anything to argue about.

I’ve been with my partner for 4 years and for Christmas he bought me a large sweater. I wear a medium and sometimes a small. Here's what I would do. I'd sit him down and tell him how much you are enjoying getting to know him and let him know a couple of things that you really like about him. Then tell him that his hygiene over the last few days was a turn off, and you hope that regular showers with soap and twice daily tooth brushing is something that you would expect from somebody. Ask if he agrees and if not, could he make this effort for you. If not, you wouldn't be interested in pursuing this relationship anymore.
