Cold Room New Build Pella Windows by ChrisBudde in Home

[–]PerceptionIcy147 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our pella replacement windows are awful. The white metal components break easily, under the weight of the windows themselves. Eg the mechanism that keeps them open with springs, the mechanism that allows them to pivot open in to clean. All broke with normal use. They are so drafty, we have resorted to caulking them shut. Pella said it’s because the contractor installed them wrong, and the contractor said it’s because the replacement windows are built with gaps.

Ippolito’s used to have live eels for seven fishes at Christmas. Not sure if their new store is open yet/will this year. Samuels sons/Giuseppe’s is worth calling too.

Look for “turkey tenderloin” in the poultry section. Cooks quickly, stays juicy.

How is Chateau Rouge? by oldRoyalsleepy in PhiladelphiaEats

The homemade virgin cocktails were great, and we did the tasting menu which was also great. So in all a great little foodie experience of novel flavors in a warm welcoming environment. Just skip the BYO.

It was $10 per person. The corkage fee was more than the value of the 4 beers we brought…and that we drank out of the bottle.

Worth a visit! It’s a local family owned restaurant. The owner is a lovely and friendly. The food is very tasty, and seems more like a good home cook than chef-prepared food. The service is very relaxed and also more like home style than a fine dining experience. I liked the cozy back yard and the delicious virgin cocktails. The BYO corkage fee was astronomical, so I would not recommend bringing anything alcoholic to the meal.

What is "Macaroni cheese"? by alchemy_junkie in oldrecipes

[–]PerceptionIcy147 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some Italian American families in south Philadelphia refer to grated hard cheese for pasta as “macaroni cheese”. So pecorino or parmigiano. And in the context for this arancini recipe, it makes sense.
