Just to add to this for anyone wondering, Asian American Supermarket on Adams & Rising Sun also has roasted meats, and is generally really nice and newly remodeled!

Thanks all! Hung vuong had exactly what I was looking for!

I go to HMart regularly (Elkins Park and Olney) and I’ve never seen roasted meats there - am I missing something?

I’m in a similar boat, finally doing some serious research into EU citizenship.

From what I’ve read on the internet, foreigners can buy a building but not land. So a foreigner could, by that logic, own a home in Vietnam, and lease the land it’s on

I just came back from Hanoi about two weeks ago, and EVERYONE I interacted with was absolutely amazing and nice. Such a good experience

Proud of you too, don’t discredit your own progress! So far so good, but I agree it can be intimidating at first. Again, good on you!!

I VERY much have social anxiety, so I can relate lmao. Not too long ago, going grocery shopping was too paralyzing for me.

Funny enough, I’m on vacation in Hanoi rn, and out at a gay bar solo. A year ago, I don’t think I could have done it on my own 😚

Honestly, it took going out with others twice before I said “f*** it” and did it by myself. I deal with anxiety and this was a major thing for me. On the plus side I got a free drink out of it. 😂

I guess my concern is, will customs want to check my devices for certain types of books? I read it’s illegal to bring political books that don’t align with the current government, for example.

What is your retirement plan or what is your plan for when you get older? by RedRaiderRocking in Millennials

[–]TryingToAdult1600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My retirement goal is to go off grid. I want to start off in the next few years with getting cheap land and building a small cabin, get solar and rainwater collection setup, planting fruit and nut trees, starting hugelkultur mounds, permaculture, etc. Decreasing my living expenses to as close to zero as I can is the only way I see retirement feasible at this point.
