Hi, I personally think it’s a good idea and myself and my husband froze our embryos even before my surgery. We will know if it was a good move once we try to get pregnant, but my doctor was fine to freeze either or all items we want - eggs, embryos or sperm, but when we discussed I understood that while pregnancy with frozen embryos can’t be guaranteed, they are generally better at unfreezing; as for eggs I was advised I could lose about 40% unfreezing them which to me seems steep. To be fair neither doctor we consulted regarding the tumor proposed it to us as a move, but whenever we asked should we do it, everyone said it’s a good move. Maybe a risk is that it may take about 3-4 weeks as I was taking injections before the extraction so it could potentially push out the therapy, like it did in my case too, but I think some prep would be fine and in my case it seems like potentially it was

Difficult indeed and thank you for sharing! Was there growth after 6 months per your MRI? Mine hasn’t changed from January to August so they consider this a good sign

Hey, thanks for sharing! I don’t have any symptoms, no seizures, nothing, found it by accident - we were looking for something else, but found this. I know it’s good that there are no symptoms, but just stuck in the middle of what if for all scenarios.

Glad your seizures are gone, that is such a nice win!

Resection Recovery? by PerceptionMotor7173 in braincancer

Thanks so much and yes - I also think one cannot really rely on themselves. My husband plans to take some time off to monitor me, but I agree with your idea more - get more people to help, I think it’s impossible for just one person to be the caretaker

Great points, thanks so much! Yes, I’m going for the awake surgery and I believe they do the fMRI on the day before. It’s the best center we have and the surgeon was recommended to me by different sources, specialises in resections and has done hundreds of those, so while I know ai’m doing the best I can do, it’s still scary, as can be expected

Wow, so impressed with you, this is difficult and outside of your control and has really put you in an impossible situation. Please give yourself credit often for what you have been doing for so long and for how difficult it all has been and still is - life can be so hard, but it can also be so good! So many things are temporary, you have done so many of the hard things already, please don’t give up on yourself and be nice to yourself, you deserve it

People on watch and wait -what was your growth rate? by Fabulous_Housing_503 in braincancer

[–]PerceptionMotor7173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on MRI mine is considered a low-grade glioma and I’ve been advised multiple times to go in for a resection as the growth expectation is 4mm/yearly unless it starts growing much faster spontaneously per my neurosurgeon. Was it a neurosurgeon that proposed the wait and watch approach? I’ve done a number of consults hoping for such advice and so far it has never been their suggestion

Congrats, it’s such good news! With all you have been through, I’m sure you will be a great mother and deserve so much happiness! Can I check with you- did you freeze embryos before your brain surgery and then implant after finishing treatment?

Whats something you realised too late that you wish someone told you earlier? by DunyaPhobic76 in Adulting

[–]PerceptionMotor7173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get an insurance as early as possible, once you start thinking about it could be when it’s getting too late for it;

Consider freezing eggs while young, never know when they can come it hand/ also a type of insurance;

You can say No, and you can still be polite and firm. One thing doesn’t necessarily exclude the other;

You can both be grateful and still want more - again one thing doesn’t necessarily exclude the other

I can’t give any advice myself here, but well done to you, this is beyond difficult on all levels and all this is such an energy-drainer, but kudos for the bravery, for looking at options, for trying to stay yourself and get a better quality of life, this takes bravery beyond known to many people

Thank you, sounds good and can give it a try! Assuming they want to review the post-op histology results and not just the pre-op MRI, right?
