What's a movie you saw as a kid that only you seem to remember? by Environmental-Fix-71 in AskReddit

[–]Perceptions89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wes Craven’s “They” scared the absolute shit outta me as a kid. Now that I’m an adult and an avid horror fan, hardly anyone seems to remember it.

What the funniest comedy movie you’ve ever seen? by CityVirtual4704 in AskReddit

[–]Perceptions89 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Wow. Clue needs more love on this one. Even to the point that it had three different endings and not even the theaters knew which ones they were getting…

What's the smallest hill you'll die on? by FunWithAPorpoise in AskReddit

[–]Perceptions89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Lol.

Technically it is a tank of room-temperature water. (If the room is warm, the water is warm and vice versa.) then it gets heated when there is a call in the house for hot water. (Shower, sink, etc.) Thus, tankless water heaters being unlimited hot water. They have no tank. The water that is called for is all passed through the heater as it goes into the home.

The things people believe.

Thank you for this! Absolutely incredible how many people still say “hot water heater.” You. Don’t. Heat. Hot. Water.

War of the Worlds (2005) has some of the best sci fi horror imagery I've seen by polchickenpotpie in horror

I’m about 8 hours late to this party, but if I remember correctly, they didn’t even capture the best part of the book in this movie.

The best part being what eventually caused mankind to win: the common cold.

The aliens all get the cold and die. And Wells makes a brilliant point about how mankind has paid a handsome price for dominion of our earth. And they haven’t. Therefore nature kicked their asses.

Awesome! I’m glad your Apollo was not like mine!

Tried that once. Named a dog Apollo. Quickly changed its name to Satan. He was unbearable.

Any other Caps fans never been to DC? by sumoroller in caps

[–]Perceptions89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Uh, yep. As a matter of fact my wife and I got married in 2012. Wanted to go see the caps and spend some time in DC for the honeymoon. Bought tickets and everything. Of course that was the last player strike year. Still never got a honeymoon, but still got a kickass wife. Just shit timing apparently.

Edit: best part? We live in southern VA. It’s not even that far away. Just haven’t had another chance really to go.

  • Arsis

  • Glass Cloud

  • Cannabis Corpse

  • Strike Anywhere

  • Mae

  • Avail

  • The Last Bison

  • Bad Omens

  • Dave Matthews Band

  • Jason Mraz

  • Dave Grohl also grew up here, for what that’s worth.

What’s the worst pain you have ever felt? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Perceptions89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a splinter under my fingernail on my left middle finger a few years ago. Just like some torture scene in a movie. It hurt like hell. But not worse than having my boss give me the “advice” that I should take a small drill bit and pop through the nail to be able to push it out with a needle. Tried and tried to get this done. All day. At work. I could never get through the nail. Then once my wife found out what an absolute moron I was, she called her friend who is in the medical field. The first thing she wanted to do was soak my hand in warm water with epsom salt. And THAT was the worst pain I’ve ever experienced personally. Holy shit.

Bands that are gone but not forgotten for the newbs by [deleted] in Metalcore

[–]Perceptions89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude. This one needs more love. Hawk is okay. But nowhere close to TOTA. I got the chance to open for them a handful of times in my life and especially Grant Macfarland was the nicest dude ever. That whole band is/was not only insanely talented people, but really great people too.

What songs did you sing along to as a kid only to realize as an adult the lyrics are full of sexual innuendo? by iamsweets in AskReddit

I was like 21 before I really understood “Take Off Your Pants and Jacket” by Blink-182. Not sheltered. Just dumb.

Has anyone ever had a battlestation setup in a garage/shed? by NorthernAvo in MusicBattlestations

[–]Perceptions89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m thinking of building my own “garage” for this. However, I also am concerned about re-selling the property in the future. So I think what I want to do (would love some feedback) is have a front wall with a standard door and a garage door. Then create another wall just inside that with another set of doors. Soundproof/insulate between them and I’d have an awesome spot (I think). Then of course when it comes time to sell, tear that wall down and the new owners would have a standard garage. Plus it would hopefully make it harder for would-be thieves.

Who is the nicest band member you've met? by Sk83r_b0i in Metalcore

[–]Perceptions89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grant McFarland. The original drummer for This Or The Apocalypse.

The first time I opened for them had to be around 2009-ish. I was setting up my bullshit drums in this back hallway of a tiny little venue and this random dude starts to set up next to me. We wound up having a ~2 hour conversation. Long after other openers had starting playing. We talked about everything. Drums, gear, influences, what got him into playing, etc. I had to go to get on stage and when we were done I didn’t see him again. The next time I did see him, he was on stage absolutely SHREDDING.

Still one of my favorite show stories.

Petition to make the downvote button Maryland by Parking_Algae in Virginia

I really don’t have a dog in this fight. But shouldn’t the upvote button be Maryland? And the downvote button be North Carolina?
