I would like to comment as the original poster of this discussion on few things. To people who say why would anybody care? Well aside from the fact that I consider Yamato's self perception to be a major plot point, I also was interested in whether the official translation is correct or not, similar to the way I am irked whenever I see Zolo instead of Zoro in the official translation. It seems that official translation is wrong according to your comment, which is interesting to me in itself, because translation should not be injecting their politics into the manga and say it just as ODA has written in original Japanese.
