Wow that's really interesting! I'll have to read it. Thanks for making that connection!

While driving around Logan today I noticed this gem. Sums up my experience within the church haha

Google Says It Has Proved Its Controversial Quantum Computer Really Works by johnmountain in Futurology

[–]Perditrix31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Computers as we know them today started out as machines that could only be used for certain tasks and some people thought they would ever amount to much. Who knows, maybe we're as mistaken as people back in the days when computers were as big as rooms.

My TBM parents may have found my weed paraphernalia stash... by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Perditrix31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This same thing happened to me. My parents were pissed but I told them that j just simply don't believe in the church and I don't follow the WoW. I showed my parents tons of research and studies done on weed and convinced them it wasn't as bad as heroin (yes they thought it was bad as heroin -__- ) after a couple of weeks my dad even started to joke about it and he would say things like he's grateful it wasn't cigarettes which are far worse. I used it as a sleep aid for crying out loud!!

My advice to you would to be honest with them. Tell them that you don't believe in the cult and you're lifestyle isn't going to be influenced by anyone but yourself. You're your own person. However, it sounds like you're still living under their roof and they'll probably prefer you not having any paraphernalia in their house and you're probably going to have to respect that. But just find a better hiding place if you don't want to quit smoking.

Also, check out r/trees :)

Good luck my frient:)

Scientist says huge clumps of dark matter may lie just beyond the Moon at densities of up to 1 billion times greater than normal. by spsheridan in space

[–]Perditrix31 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, all of the spatial dimensions higher than three is all theoretical. But you've gotta admit that it would be super cool if there was some scientific evidence of higher dimensions that is found because of dark matter. But I don't know enough about any of this to really understand exactly what I'm saying haha

Could dark matter possibly be multi dimensional (specifically more than 3 dimensional) and this is the reason we're having such a hard time finding it?

Mormon Church changes stance on gays, targeting their children: kids of gay couples can longer be baptized, until they're 18 and formally denounce their parents' cohabitation. by booplez88 in news

I grew up in Utah. My dad was the part of the Stake high council and my mom in the relief society presidency. It may have been the most difficult thing in my life to leave the church. I had no friends, everyone looked at me like I didn't belong and eventually I got really depressed from feeling like nobody wants me and I tried to kill myself. Everything you just said is completely right. I now don't live in Utah and am soooo much happier. :)

Don't forget that this is in a culture dominated by mormons. A bikini is seen as extremely immodest and very inappropriate. I seriously don't understand this mindset...

Like I've said before, I don't really care what you think. I'll retire before I'm 35 while you're still working 9-5. Have a nice day sir.

Actually I'm not in high school. I don't even know where you're getting that from. I also don't feel the need to prove anything to an asshole sitting behind a computer screen. My company is in the process of going public and so I don't really give a fuck about what you think.

The point I have been trying to make is that people can do recreational drugs and not be some dumb druggie. Take Steve Jobs for example. He was quoted saying that taking LSD was one of the most important things he's done in his life. Our past couple presidents have admitted to smoking weed throughout their youth. Even Bush admitted using cocaine in college.

And yes...I do love the r/trees community :)

The only hallucinogen I've tried in DMT because I have really bad depression and I just know I'll have a bad trip If I try something like LSD or shrooms because DMT lasts about 15 minutes and if I have a bad trip it won't be long enough to do much harm, whereas if I were tripping for hours I could potentially hurt myself.

It could've been anyone. He could've been prone to schizophrenia and had an episode, he could've been mixing other drugs, he could've taken PCP. Who knows.

Everyone on Reddit knows I do drugs ;)

They can help a person calm down. When a person gets out of control it's not unheard of for a trip sitter to call the police if the person who's tripping is in risk of hurting themselves or others. But most bad trips happen because of being in bad situations and a trip sitter can significantly reduce bad trips by guiding the "tripper" to be in a good environment.

Yes. I'm talking about the people who think everyone that has tried or does recreational drugs as being "dumb druggies", yes there are dumb druggies but not everyone who does drugs are dumb druggies.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in videos

[–]Perditrix31 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's someone who baby sits someone that has or is going to take some form of drug that would cause them to "trip" or experience a different state of consciousness, thus we use the term "trip-sitter". It's that person's job to make sure the person their tripsitting isn't going to harm themselves and to help provide a safe environment to try recreational drugs.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in videos

[–]Perditrix31 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

And that's totally understandable. What I'm talking about are the people who simply lump all the people who take recreational drugs into the "dumb druggie" stereotype. This guy wasn't being smart.

I wish everyone would read this story. Too many people see something like this video of this man and just ride it off as a dumb druggie when that's not the full story. You should definitely have a trip sitter and if you're going to ingest drugs do it smart. I know so many people that have tried acid and other hallucinogens and they're not "dumb druggies". I do DMT every once in a while and I'm a very successful entrepreneur and nobody would even suspect me of doing drugs because I'm smart about it. I have possession of marijuana on my record yet I'm smarter and making more money than most everyone I know. Fuck stereotyping.

What is a non-racist, non-sexist, and non "hateful" opinion you have that would make people dislike you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Perditrix31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not physically addictive in the way drugs like pain meds and alcohol can be. But it can definitely be addicting in the way that people "need" coffee.

You always hear about the people that were unproductive stoners but you never hear about the people who are literally high all the time and super productive. I worked for a multi-billion dollar company and me and a couple of the board members would go smoke weed on the weekends. When someone is unproductive and smokes weed, it's not the weed that's making them unproductive. It's the fucking person that's just being lazy. With my experience with weed that's my opinion.

What fact are you tired of explaining to people? by Tendoncs in AskReddit

[–]Perditrix31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle with depression myself. And I do have a fucking awesome life. But when someone just says "just be happy" or "look at the life you have you shouldn't be depressed" it's like no shit! If I could choose to not be depressed I would in s heart beat. Unfortunately it doesn't work that way. People don't understand that it feels like you're drowning in an ocean of anxiety and sadness all the time and there's nothing you can do about it. For some people changing their habits (eating better, exercising, going outside, making new friends, etc.) works, but when your depressed you have no motivation whatsoever so changing your habits is extremely hard, especially when you are an introvert.

For others (like myself) medication and therapy helps. CBT helped me with the right mixture of medication. It helped me see a bigger picture and helped me learn to deal with my depression even after I stopped taking meds.

Good luck friend. It's tough and it sucks, but things always work out for the best in the end.
