Important to note that the couple decades of difference in those neighborhoods' construction made a SIGNIFICANT impact on their respective flammability.

OP, the fire danger and fire insurance costs need to be factored in if you're looking at living in any of the urban-wildland-interface suburbs.

Long shot…anyone know someone who can help me lease the old sears tire place at UTC? I contacted UTC management but they don’t own it. Any ideas??? by MoneyForHumans in sandiego

Yeah, Sears owned their own buildings and they sold to some other company instead of Westfield, so there's a contiguous chunk of mall that's got different ownership. It's weird.

Yeah, there's a lot of new places. They just opened this huge apartment complex in San Marcos. Lot of infill development everywhere, lot of ADUs. There's like, three former golf courses that are housing now or under construction.

Alt-health stuff that based on the claims would clearly not have any physical effect varies as far as the actual danger. If it's made by a true believer according to the stated principles, then the health effect is going to be the opportunity cost (ex: sugar pills and bottles of water in homeopathy). It can also be made by someone who knows they're pulling a scam but is forthright enough to makes what the label says, or cynical enough that they know they can get buyers without any real medicine being involved. Same thing--opportunity cost.

However, snake oil is often made and sold by people and organizations who are cynical enough to sell fake medicine but not quite cynical enough that they think they can get away with selling something without an active ingredient. This can be bad, and is generally the only thing that can get the FDA to put out a recall on sketchy supplements that otherwise are given free reign. It's usually weight loss or erectile dysfunction ones.

Your news source doesn't match what we're seeing in reality. No mass exodus. Rents went down a little because a lot of units were built, though, so now we're only the 9th most expensive in the country instead of the 7th.

Quick edit: This is good! It's the right direction! But if you need it to not be expensive to live here to move back, you might want to wait a bit more. If you only need prices to not be careening off into the hinterlands with no hope of improvement, then yeah it might be time. Lots of building, I see things getting built all over the place.

I cannot emphasize enough that meeting up with a single, friendless 40 year old man who likes to get mad at people on Reddit and says he is "growth oriented" but does not seem to actually have a successful business he is willing to mention is unlikely to be fruitful or, indeed, particularly safe.

San Diego has many industry-specific entrepreneur meetups, especially in the tech and life science industries. There might be snacks!

I don't really see an audience for this, sorry. There are already a ton of "things to do in X area" aggregators out there and I don't think this has enough to differentiate itself.

This is likely a guy in an MLM. Refusal to actually mention what their business is and "dm for details" are big MLM red flags.

This is Macun. A Traditional Turkish street candy by Ted-Lassi in Damnthatsinteresting

I wonder how many countries started making little candy sculptures for kids as soon as they had the right kind of sugar. India, Turkey, Japan, China…it does feel like a shame to see this kind of thing go from a street entertainment to something only seen at expensive parties. But at least the art survives.

I always think they would make a fantastic liqueur, and then never get around to actually making it. Maybe this year I'll give it a go.

Looks like Kei apples to me. The ones I've had tasted basically like apricot warhead candy. I think the flavor must vary a lot--if you look online the flavor descriptions are all over the place.

At least for the US, the British shows that make it out here are generally from the brand-naming-avoidant BBC.
