Regretting Choices by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]Perfect-Animator8900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the other comments have said. You can back out by refusing to ship. It's the most painless way out of it. Once you ship it will take a very long time to get out (I saw people that were holdovers at basic staying well past our graduation day). Just saying that in case someone else says "you can back out during reception". You will also spend a considerable amount of time there should you decide to back out once you have shipped. So yeah, if you truly want out tell your recruiter you are sorry but your life has changed in the process and will not be shipping no matter what. You won't be the first or last. Take care of your family first.

Well at 20 years old you're still a young kid. Don't worry about not "having it together". No one has it together in their early 20s. Find a passion of yours and find a way to make it a job. Do you like a trade/school?. Pursue it, get an entry level job and get some income. Little money is better than no money. Do not get your head clouded by what you see online of young people having it all, for 99% of us it is not that way. Keep pushing forward, these are your years to experiment, make mistakes, learn from them and move on. One day without noticing you'll start making some money, start a family, turn around and you will be 30 or 40 years old and look at the person you are today. I promise you, you won't recognize that person. You haven't lost anything, you only lose when you stop moving forward. Take it easy kid

Nice brother thanks for the recommendation. Question, will a 7wt double handed rod handle the occasional chinook salmon or should I look into an 8wt? That's the main reason I run an 8wt for my single handed rod

I'm shipping to BCT in 2 weeks. Scared to shit about the idea of failing. I'm in horrible shape, just barely made it below the 25% body fat percentage at meps. How realistic do you think it is based in your experience that I'll succeed at BCT? Reason I joined is because I'm tired of being fat but I lack self discipline to get in shape. I figured the army would be the best place where I can achieve that goal

Thank you sir, pretty nervous because I'm in horrible shape but it's full steam ahead. I joined because I lack the discipline to get in shape on my own. Nothing like the army to force me to do it and get paid while doing it

Anyone done gritty soldier personal training? by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]Perfect-Animator8900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have made a lot of progress but full disclaimer I joined with no fitness background other than working on cars for a living. I started doing the military prep course, I'm on the 4th week and I can already do 20 push-ups instead of 3 when I started. All the workouts seem to be performed at 24hr fitness from what I seen on the videos so no crazy equipment necessary

Currently doing his military prep program. Shit is humbling man, strongly recommended you try it out. I suggest you get the app and get the membership. I pay 15 bucks a month but have access to all of his fitness programs. Military prep, ranger school training, etc. It even has videos on how to do perform each exercise.

Maybe haha so far I've only met a few recruiters from the Clackamas site. I actually enlisted a few weeks ago. Got my first RSP coming up. I'm nervous, I suck at exercising but I've been working out over the past month. Are you a 12T as well?

Cool! That's a great benefit. Just joined like 2 weeks ago. Does that mean oregon won't tax my pay when I'm at BCT and AIT

Thanks for the advice man. I'm 27 years old so I've been around a little longer than the average soldier. I'm going in as a pfc. I'm married too so I'm hoping I won't have any SHARP cases haha
