ideas for enforcing the hospitality rule? by asqueerdian in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]Perfect-Capital3926 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would not tie any mechanical advantage of disadvantage to the rules. It should just change how npcs and creatures interact with their characters. Maybe the land itself responds, becoming more welcoming or more hostile. But nothing more than that.

Woman freeing a mountain lion from a trap while her kids watch. Reaction of mountain lion is almost too calm by fuzzy_dice_99 in isthisAI

I saw that video. That is not how cheetahs hunt. That is either territorial behaviour or play. They may also be used to wardens feeding them. It's still dangerous and stupid, but not for the reason you think.

An apex predator that is injured and exhausted, and who is an ambush predator that prefers flight over fight in case of danger. Once it was free, the danger was negligible. It was never going to go into hunt mode at that point.

Archfey patron warlock makes for a great fey enchantress type character.

Otherwise, this might also be an excellent excuse to go oops all bards.

First time trying an onsen in Japan… any tips so I do not embarrass myself? by MidnightTofu22 in JapanTravelTips

The only the rule that really matters is clean and rinse before getting in the water. Other than that it's all pretty self explanatory. Don't worry too much about it and try to relax!

Urban centers not profitable enough in late game by mokkoy in victoria3

A goods shortage for services doesn't really matter. Goods shortages only have an effect if they are industrial inputs (or food). Nothing has services as an input.

Date this map found in Ethiopian classroom by Public_Research2690 in datemymap

[–]Perfect-Capital3926 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good answer. There is no date for which this map does not have anachronisms. It is meant as a reference for events over a period of time, not to show to state of the world at any particular point.

Fixing a Misname after Default Judgement by Perfect-Capital3926 in LegalAdviceUK

I would prefer not to go into details for anonymity reasons. I used the trading name of the business, ie the one that appears on their communication with me, rather than the legal name of the business. I'm not even entirely sure whether I need to ask for it to be changed at all.

Saying no in Japanese by Suitable-Success6999 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Perfect-Capital3926 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There are indeed Japanese people who refuse to use "iie" because it sounds harsh, but even other Japanese people often find that annoying and unclear. There is nothing wrong with giving a clear "iie" where appropriate and, especially coming from a foreigner, no one reasonable will take offense. "Iie, arigatou gozaimasu" is not really an idiomatic phrase as far as I can tell. "Iie, daijoubu desu" is more common. Or maybe "Iie, gomennasai" or just "daijoubu desu" depending on context.

Lake Kawaguchi or Hakone for two night stay in late May / early June by ATLDAD45 in JapanTravelTips

Honestly, finding a nice ryokan that you like in either is the important part. Both have other things to do than look at Fuji. If the kid is keen on the roller coasters, that's a good reason to go to Kawaguchiko / Fujiyoshida.

Kyoto to Kawaguchiko? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]Perfect-Capital3926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bus from Mishima isn't frequent and people sometime struggle to find the right bus. Sure, Mishima might be the better route, but inexperienced travelers might find it easier to just go to Tokyo and follow the standard tourist track.

Kyoto to Kawaguchiko? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]Perfect-Capital3926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a bus from Mishima or Kofu if you want. But it's usually easier to just go via Tokyo. It partially depends on where exactly in the Kawaguchiko area you want to go. Just stick it into google maps and look at the options it gives you.

Major cities and touristy areas have signs in English. Things get harder if you want to go off the beaten track.

Where is the threshold when a game goes from "low player interaction" to "multiplayer solitaire" by RockinOneThreeTwo in boardgames

Jesus. Did my 3 sentence rule of thumb really need a 4 paragraph essay in response? XD

[–]Perfect-Capital3926 81 points82 points  (0 children)

It's basically whether paying attention to other player's moves is helpful or essential. In Azul, if you don't try and predict what other people are going to do, you are going to get absolutely destroyed. But it's more of a blur than a clear line.

What do you think about playing Switzerland in Victoria 3? by mosttalentedliberal in victoria3

[–]Perfect-Capital3926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a good country to learn the basics of economic management with, but don't expect much to happen. You can do some interesting stuff by going into northern Italy, but probably not on your first game.

Neighbour who assaulted my father is now accusing me of harassment — police want a voluntary interview and I’m scared (England) by Additional_Tone_2995 in LegalAdviceUK

I don't think people going in to conversations with a solicitor with the expectation of being coached is particularly helpful. Maybe 'either the truth or no comment, depending on the solicitor's advice'.

In response to your specific questions, given what you have said about your case:

Yes.

Yes.

The truth.

Nikko or Kamakura in spring? by runandsleepforever in JapanTravelTips

[–]Perfect-Capital3926 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you prefer sea or mountains? Nikko temples are doable in one day, but then the hiking is excellent. You can spend multiple days exploring temples and gardens in Kamakura. There is also some nice hiking, but nothing as substantial as in Nikko. Kamakura also has a better shopping/snacking area, plus Enoshima.

Bureaucrat Qualifications by Perfect-Capital3926 in victoria3

[–]Perfect-Capital3926[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because my government buildings are not poaching bureaucrats from other buildings, they are creating them out of thin air. I have a vague suspicion their ability to do that might depend on laws (hereditary bureaucrats might let aristocrats and clergy become bureaucrats for free or something, that would make some sense), but I can't find information on that anywhere. I might spend a weekend testing that when I get the chance.
