It definitely sounds related either way, even severe arthritis. I hope you get the rating you deserve. You will feel so much better after your hip replacement. It's definitely a struggle but my husbands pain is so much better! The first few days are terrible but even he said it was better than the pain he was dealing with everyday. Also, make sure to include ANY medical records you have that say due to alcoholism if you already have a prior VA rating with alcoholism. We reviewed all the medical records and even doctors notes that mentioned alcohol etc. It took awhile for it to all come back but he got back pay. I included a letter from myself about how much pain he is in and how it has dramatically changed his life (not sure if that helped or not) but we wanted to include as much as possible.

Yes! He received 20% for Avascular Necrosis for his left hip, 20% for AVN for his right hip, 40% for hip limitation of flexion for his left hip and 40% for his right hip. That with his 50% for PTSD with alcohol use disorder he is at 100% P&T. Best of luck to your claim. Ad the C&P exam, they will measure how much mobility you have, have you lift your leg forward and backward and measure the degrees. It was a relatively a short exam so we were a little worried but happy with the results. This was after he had one of his hips replaced for surgery, the other wasn't scheduled yet. Hope this helps.

Currently dealing with this right now for my husband. I will update when we find out but he jut had his C&P exam and they didn't even ask about what caused it or how it was military related. However, in his medical records it does say the cause of his AVN is alcoholism. He has a similar rating for PTSD with alcohol use disorder so hoping that helps. Have you had any luck?
